  1. He definitely will have better games in front of him and I'm sure he will develop, but I was simply countering your comment that he has the beating of Barisic which I believe is the opposite of the truth.
  2. I'd appreciate that more if this was a one-off, but Frimpong has been ineffectual in all 3 matches I've seen him play against us.
  3. That's a bit of a wild take considering Frimpong done absolutely nothing. When you say Frimpong has the beating of Barisic, maybe in terms of a foot race, but Barisic managed him expertly all day and Frimpong (or Lennon) didn't know how to counter it. As you mentioned, Barisic concentrated on stopping Frimpong going past him on the byline as he had complete confidence in Kamara covering if he moved inwards.
  4. You do realise that "have had" is past tense? As in, I no longer believe it to be the case? Also, by starting the sentence with "now", this clearly implies that I believe things have changed. If I simplify it for you by saying: The reason that Celtic have remained successful is because they have had a deeper squad than us with better players due to the financial gap. Now, I do not believe that the quality and depth is significantly greater than ours. Does that make it easier for you?
  5. The gulf in finances has been the reason Celtic have still remained successful during this period. No to mention that Rodgers was still there for a large part of it. Generally speaking, Celtic have had a deeper squad filled with better quality players that has seen them better equipped to deal with situations where 3 or 4 key players are not in form (which is what really happened to Rangers at the turn of the year). Now, despite still being far behind in terms of resources, Rangers have built a deeper squad that I think will be more capable of sustaining a challenge. I’d be very surprised to see us go through a dramatic loss of form like we have done previously. Looking at our bench yesterday it was the first time in a while I’ve felt content with the options available and we’re still missing a couple of good players to come back into the squad. Back under Caixinha, Sutton asked him the question of how many Rangers players would get in the Celtic side - now it’ll be quicker to answer how many Rangers players wouldn’t get in the Celtic side.
  6. He’s been impressive and I’ll be surprised if teams aren’t sniffing about him come January/Summer. I also think his decision making has improved a lot this season. Before, he would fire balls into the box constant but he has learned to hold off if it means retaining possession or waiting for support to arrive. He has also got better at making tactical fouls to disrupt the opposition too.
  7. Aye, my main point being though was your original comment suggested our defence weren’t that good with your evidence being that they are still playing at Rangers. Granted, in the context of global football, they are nowhere near the top level of players out there, but they are currently the best in our league. You can’t just say X, Y or Z aren’t any good because they’re not playing for Liverpool, Real Madrid or Juventus. Their quality is judged by comparing them to the teams they face.
  8. But I think it’s flawed logic. He tried to make the point that because none of our defenders have left us yet then they can’t be considered that good. It’s relative to the league you’re playing in right now that determines how good the defence is. My point about Scott Brown was facetious in the sense that Celtic fans claim Scott Brown is a top player but using Gannons logic, he can’t be. If Henrik Larsson never left Celtic for Barcelona, there wouldn’t be anyone claiming he wasn’t a top player just because he hadn’t got a big move. Please note, I am using Larsson as an extreme example to highlight my point, in no way am I drawing comparisons between his standard and the Rangers defence
  9. What kind of flawed logic is it that means if players stay at a club for a while means they can’t be good By that token, anyone that stays at a club for a considerable period of time means they must be rotten *cough* Scott Brown *cough*
  10. If that’s what you are claiming as my mask slipping, then batter in mate.
  11. Ah, here we go. I thought yesterday had a different feel to it. It didn’t seem like a derby really, but I think that helped us and we ended up putting in a really complete and disciplined performance. We weren’t outstanding by any means, but we were spot on tactically and carried out our jobs perfectly. I can’t remember the last time we made Celtic look so completely average. It’s been highlighted a lot that Callum McGregor came out and said Rangers changed their game plan by having our full backs sit in and protect the centre backs which seemed to surprise them. This is music to my ears as anyone worth their salt could recognise we’ve done that in numerous games this season which makes me believe we have the upper hand over Celtic tactically if that already wasn’t obvious. Goldson grabbed the headlines but a shout out to Glen Kamara (50 grand?!) and Filip Helander who I thought were excellent. Arfield as well never seems to let us down and is so switched on tactically for the majority of the time. I think Gerrard was right to change his reaction compared to our win there in December, but this side have given us 9 wins from the opening 11 matches with 2 draws and that is with us having been away from home at Aberdeen, Livingston, Hibs, Motherwell and now Celtic. It’s a promising start and I just hope we can crack on now.
  12. It’s for my own good I’ll either become a d*ck by gloating or I’ll take any bait if we lose.
  13. Win, lose or draw I’ll be avoiding online discussions for a day or so to let things calm down afterwards. Enjoy the game, don’t be a d*ck, c’mon the Rangers!
  14. I would imagine St Mirren, Kilmarnock and any other team that have previously been bound by the self isolation guidelines would feel rather aggrieved if they relaxed them to allow Christie to play. Whether you see logic in them or not, I think it would be opening up a big can of worms.
  15. Celtic making representations to have Ryan Christie's isolation period cut short so he can feature tomorrow after it emerged Arsenal are doing the same thing with Tierney.
  16. Just wanted to pop in and inform you all I probably won't be watching this game tomorrow folks. Cheers.
  17. What is with the weird behaviour of non Rangers or Celtic fans informing us they won't be watching the match?
  18. Indeed. I'd really hope then that there are additional police resources and dogs deployed to reinforce restrictions during the first top-flight New Firm Derby in years tomorrow.
  19. Where has the idea come from that the only occasion that poses a risk of people having house parties is while watching a Rangers v Celtic match?
  20. Gerrard has confirmed the game has probably come too early for Aribo and Roofe who will likely miss out as well as Zungu who is in quarantine. Full assessment of the returning international players to take place later today.
  21. Considine really grabbing this opportunity with both hands, I thought he was solid again tonight. Gallagher and McTominay also looking like they are developing a good understanding with each other. Loved Jack’s performance tonight, he seemed to be everyone towards the end of the game clearing anything that came near him, winning goal kicks and staying calm on the ball to send us up the pitch.
  22. I think the main issue is we don’t really have anyone that has significantly better stats that are available.
  23. Commentary team said the Slovakia game. Let’s hope they are right.
  24. Silly from Dykes. Will ultimately mean he will end up getting subbed off earlier than Clarke would’ve liked now.
