Surely if you're handing back your season tickets over Malky then you should have already handed them back for not sacking club captain Joe Newell and club hero Martin Boyle? Both horrible little men were happy to put other lives at risk by drink driving and only stopped because they were banned from being behind the wheel. That's much much worse than someones views of the world.

I’m sure you could have found it with a simple Google but here you go:

    https://www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11704/9435093/malky-mackay-apologises-for-offensive-texts-while-cardiff-manager

So it’s purely because of the position he’s been appointed in? And you’d be fine with us signing Goodwillie as he’s only a player?

Carry on with your attention seeking champ.  Please let us know if the club responds to your next email 👍🏼

Comparing rape to racism now, and I thought your take couldn’t have got any worse.

Believing your club shouldn’t let a racist run the football operation is attention seeking apparently, Jesus Christ.

Mackay wasn't even a daft wee laddie when he made these comments. He was a 40 yo man and had worked/ was working with people of many different backgrounds. AFAIK, he didn't even acknowledge his behaviour. Many of us would be instantly sacked from our jobs if we were guilty of spouting bile like he did. Sad that in Scottish football, dinosaurs like Mackay seem to fail upwards. Was the same when Hearts appointed Rix. Just. Don't. Do. It. FFS!.

The racism and homophobia aside, what's good about Mackay? I can't see any achievements in there? Underwhelming at the very least.

    100%

It would have been excusable if he’d been a daft laddie and came out and shown remorse for it but he’s done neither.

He’s attended a tick box training course and never once held his hands up and apologised.

It's funny how the "I won't be back" brigade have no issue with "club legend" (and assault convict) Anthony Stokes and other various offenders but can't let go that MM sent some texts 10 years ago and has since been remorseful about.

    Just so it’s clear.

The guy running building the team is not the same as a couple of players.

For example, I work at a financial services company, if someone had a criminal past and joined my area and worked with me, even as a contractor where they’re on astonishing wages at times I wouldn’t care.

However if we hired a new head of department who was a proven racist bigot, I would tender my resignation.

You’re clearly far too thick to understand that mind you.

Good news for your financial situation.

3 Hibs season ticket holders about to sign up for Edinburgh City season tickets this season once we get our refunds through.

Not sure if there’ll be any more that follow.

Out of the fire and into the frying pan by the sounds of things.

  6. Fair play to the ticket office/SLO at Hibs.

Got a response back saying they’re disappointed about how today has went and they’ll organise a refund for my season ticket.

I’ve gone back and said I’m sorry that they’ve had to deal with my request and I can’t wait to go back after he’s away.

    Gutted it’s come to this.

I’ve been to a few Edinburgh City games over the years so I’ll probably head there for the interim and support Hibs from afar, out of the fire and into the frying pan I suppose.

Very unpopular opinion here, but I reckon Malky could be a big success at Hibs. Obviously also depends on who they appoint as head coach. Malky had his contacts.

Also have heard he is a genuially nice person if you give him a bit of redemption. Results go Hibs way, fans soon forget about the past.

Couldn’t give a f**k if we win the champions league, I won’t be at Easter Road while he’s at the club.

I think it’s a fair enough stance to take but not one I’ll join in with myself. I supported the national team when he was in a high ranking position and I’ve continued to support Hibs when we’ve had a number of players at the club with various off field indiscretions of varying severity.

It’s an appointment we could’ve easily avoided and it’ll bring unnecessary attention to the club but I’ll still support the team I love, unfortunately for me.

Fair enough, interesting point regarding the national team, think I possibly was at games while he was employed but I would have been 21/22 and probably too naive to consider it.

I will still follow from afar and want the team to do well and I will return once he goes, I’ll be supporting Hibs far longer than he’ll be at the club, I just can’t in good faith pay towards the wages of this man.

Most Hibs fans want him but we’ll end up appointing someone with no Scottish experience as usual. We will be back to square one this time next season looking for a new manager.

Scottish experience doesn’t mean guaranteed success, Mixu, Yogi, Ross, Butcher, Duffy & Lennon had all managed in Scotland before with success but all of them were sacked/moved on after some port performances.

  10. You’ve got to think this time is going to be different, I don’t mean necessarily successful but definitely different, we have new people running our “football department” and apparently the people who’ve been responsible for hiring these idiots may be on their way out.

I have a feeling the guy appointed won’t be someone we’ve heard of before with a view to them moving to Lorient/Bournemouth which is pretty depressing but tbf if a manager’s successful enough to get moved on then they’re a lot more successful than most managers we’ve had.

Regardless of this my thoughts on the names mentioned.

Alex Neil - my choice, the old saying no one ever got sacked from work for buying software from IBM, success everywhere he’s been except Stoke, decent football, gives him the chance to build his reputation again, a no brainer.

Ronny Deila - Don’t hate it, comes with expectations of good recruitment, decent football and a track record of success.

Rhys McCabe - Not sure, Airdrie play some cracking football but is he too young and could it fall flat on its face? Possibly

Derek McInnes - I’ve never been keen on this anytime he’s been mentioned, doing a superb job at Killie, granted, but this just reeks of Terry Butcher/Jim Goodwin to me, I don’t think it would work. Not sure he would come either, has previous for rejecting jobs due to badly run clubs, also don’t think he fits the “Black Knight” profile of someone that’ll be able to move on to better things if successful.

    Stephen Robinson - See McInnes

Ian Murray - I would love this to work but ultimately I don’t think it would, doing a great job at Raith though.

Voted Yogi though for the lolz

Who’s the RB keeping Megwa out of the Hibs team.

    He’s a player.

Good game and another great advert for the best division in Scotland.

Chris Cadden who to be fair has been very good since returning from injury.

Megwa however looks superb based on tonight’s evidence, looks like he’s developed a lot this season, would be more than happy for him to spend another year at Airdrie as he’s clearly coming on leaps and bounds.

So yes, my story with taking action against VAR is pretty much entirely concentrated to 2022, when it was being floated, voted on and eventually implemented.

Sent this email* to Hibs in April of that year and got nothing back at first. A snippet of the closing paragraphs below:

    HibsEmail.thumb.png.826cf755eb559ed433462b28c11169b1.png

*not posting the whole thing as a lot of it was just moaning at the club.

Note on my boycott threat: due to personal circumstances I actually haven't been able to attend a game anyway since writing that email, so I've followed through on withholding my money from Hibs even if it hasn't been done purely on moral grounds.

After VAR was introduced in October 2022, I went back to the email and realised that I had forgotten to include the SLO's email address and re-sent it (with some additional comments). To paraphrase, the SLO's reply was along the lines of:

    • We were the last major league in Europe to introduce it so we could avoid some of the teething errors ()
    • Correct decision-making will help Scottish football to move forward and align us with counterparts in other countries
    • There will still always be incidents, VAR can't resolve everything
    • VAR in Scotland wouldn't have been stopped if Hibs fans had been consulted
    • However I've passed on your feedback about supporters being consulted on issues such as this going forwards

Anyway, I didn't bother replying and the post from V.G. jogged my memory that I had actually done it in the first place.

Since then, I have mainly resorted to despairing and/or sniping from the sidelines. Is it petty? Definitely. Is it pleasing feeling entirely fucking vindicated by what I wrote in April 2022? Also yes. For people saying "oh how could we have seen what VAR would bring?", here's what I and many others were saying before the clubs had even voted:

    HibsEmail2.thumb.png.16f60e7e3331899e847a9538128e2102.png

But V.G.'s post was exactly the shot in the arm I needed to remember what (admittedly little) I can do to try and turn the tide back in the favour of Scottish football fans who are sick and tired of VAR. I know that I am not alone in feeling like this, social media and forums such as this are awash with punters who would happily see the whole thing binned off.

So, inspired by the above, I will be taking at least three of those four steps - currently being out of the country limits my chances of being able to call in to Sportsound any time soon - and I would implore others to do the same.

The one thing I refuse to accept is that this is the status quo and there's no point complaining about it, we might as well get used to it. There are countless examples of the exact opposite of that sentiment being true, and if we can't overturn VAR completely we can at least make people in charge of it feel a lot less comfortable and smug about their pet project of sacrificing football fans on the altar of 'getting decisions correct'.

Again, this thread is not for debating the merits of VAR. It's not for discussing any past, recent or future decisions made by VAR. It's not for suggesting alternatives to VAR. It's not for pondering whether it's the referees at fault rather than the technology.

It's not for anybody other than those who feel the same as I do and want to discuss how we can take action, whatever your club may be. Three of the posters I agree with most on this issue (@VincentGuerin, @Dons_1988 and @AJF) support three of the four clubs I like the least in Scotland; it goes beyond any rivalries you may have.

I know that there are people all across Scotland who just want to get back to attending a version of football that felt vaguely exciting and enjoyable.

It sounds like we had a fairly similar experience.

I emailed our SLO when the idea was mooted in October 2021, I got no response and 6 months later Hibs released a statement saying they strongly supported the introduction of VAR, our at the time manager Shaun Maloney was also moaning about the lack of it in the press.

I got no response and after a VAR decision went against us I sent another email, probably in a bit of a mood so I could have worded it better with a clear head but like yourself I was utterly bemused by the running of the club and wanted to let off steam.

This time I copied in the CEO, in fairness I did get a response back but the email didn’t address my issues really and also did contain a bit which completely contradicts the clubs position and to be honest I felt it was just lip service to a unhappy customer.

    IMG_4622.jpeg.3d1fa12d6465d8ac62ea08a384b36981.jpeg

Obviously Ron Gordon is mentioned in this but this was sent long before his passing.

The CEO did offer a phone call to discuss it which I declined, I didn’t think it was going to achieve anything to take it any further at the time.

I’m happy to contact the club again regarding my views on the matter, I don’t think I would withdraw financial support mind you, going to the football for me isn’t about supporting the club as much as it is the chance to see friends and have a laugh and that’s not something I’d want to give up.

100% should be offered a new deal at end of season.

Would also like to see us sign Marcondes, Maolida and Nector on permanent deals.

Would love to keep them but can’t see it, with the caveat that Triantis isn’t allowed in his own penalty box under any circumstances.

No I come on here, get abuse from tin foil twats like you and respond by cordially inviting you to fully get to **** and give us all peace from your relentless 'refs have it in for us' conspiracy shite.  No wonder you think I'm condescending, look at what ****ing passes for analysis from you FFS!!

If you think a moan about a refereeing decision and a complaint about a shite defender costing us a goal is an attempt at “analysis” then you take life way to seriously.

If it’s all Hibs supporters fault for everything bad that happens like you suggest maybe you should simply stop being one of them.

  15. 2 minutes ago, Tommy Tappin said:

There's no such thing as a gimme for Hibs.

Officials can't score goals. We defend that properly or even demonstrate a semblance of game management and we don't have that problem. Absolute bottle jobs - Expert+ Level.

    What is your point caller?

I have slated Will Fish and his piss poor defending.

Do you just exist on this forum to be a condescending w**k or do you just come on here to avoid arguing with your reflection?

  16. 8 minutes ago, Tommy Tappin said:

    ...anyway....

We know the officials are going to be shite before we start. Perhaps we could see our way clear to playing like professional footballers for a full match once in a while though given that's what cost us (AGAIN) tonight.

Assuming you just ignored my point about the footballing disaster that is Will Fish and him being allover the place for yet another goal then?

  17. 7 minutes ago, Leith Green said:

Nope. Managers first half formation cost us the points tonight.

Can't really complain about the time when we defend like that, and Youan doesn't track his man.

Complaint is nothing to do with the time, the complaint is with the fact County scored directly from a throw in where the ball was headed out of play by a County player.

I am no Montgomery fan by any stretch and we were shite tonight but that’s yet another time where refereeing mistakes have cost us.
