World Cup 2022 Qualifiers
Les Cabbage replied to D Angelo Barksdale's topic in Tartan Army Ramblings
In the 2018 World Cup qualifiers there were 9 groups of 6, having looked at the points totals the average points for a 2nd placed team was 20.44, this average is dragged up by outliers Switzerland in Group B who got 27 points. So realistically, if we say 21 points *should* be enough to see us qualify for the play off. So how do we do that? If we were to win our 5 home games and beat the Faroes and Moldova away, that would give us 21 and anything we get from the rest away from home is a bonus and the more we get the better chance we have of topping the group. Seems easy eh? In all likelihood we’ll drop some silly points somewhere but there’s absolutely no reason why we can’t qualify. Not sure if it’s mentioned already but Faroes away will be September or October as they’re seen as a hard winter venue, hoping we get Israel away and a couple of home games in March so that once we all get chipped by the government we can go on a jolly later on, hoping to get to Austria and Moldova, assuming you don’t need to apply for a visa of any kind for Moldova? Hopefully get the fixtures booked in soon so that we can get flights booked for some of them. ^yes this guys getting carried away^ -
Motherwell FC v Hibernian FC - 5th December

The ref clearly made the correct decision, the guy breached covid regulations and was far less than 2m away from Stevenson when the ball hit the back of the net. -

I honestly canny wait till this is over and the debates about players being a 150cm too close to one another can end, bloody hell this is grim -

I did not see that coming at half time, god bless Christian Doidge, hopefully he goes on a run from here. I can not believe Stephen McGinn scored. -

Absolutely brutal watch , my laptop wouldn’t work for the first 22 minutes and watching the past 23, I’m thankful of such. Jack Ross playing the tactic of trying to score from a cross and using wingers, but not playing the only big physical striker we have, Motherwell first to every ball, would take 0-0 right now. -

Doidge or Gullan would be preferred and go with 2 up front, would also have preferred Gogic but it would appear he must be injured. Happy with the front 3 but our midfield is just so lightweight it’s unreal, Newell had a good run at the start of this season but he’s been poor the past month, Wright and Hallberg don’t have any attributes at all (or haven’t showed any since we signed them), would even rather have Mallan cause he provides a threat at set pieces and from distance. -

Apparently Hallberg and Wright are both starting, if it’s true we will not win. -
COVID-19 In Scottish Football
Les Cabbage replied to Lex's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Absolutely mental decision from the SPFL, fine clubs by all means by awarding 3-0 wins punishes the fans more than anyone else. Especially season ticket holders who are unable to attend any games this season and have essentially shelled out hundreds to watch games on a laptop, now they get less games as part of their package due to no fault of their own, shambles. -
Gonna go the extra effort to send the deputy chief medical office my mask in the post with some hand sanitiser and throw a massive party once this is over.
-
Let the anti vaxers pass on it and allow them to die off. Natural selection, I say. Hopefully the SPFL require a vaccine certificate to allow you into the grounds also, sure it would help reduce many of the other issues Scottish football have with supporters too.

Hibs v Dundee - Deja Vu edition
Les Cabbage replied to RossBFaeDundee's topic in Domestic Cup Football
It’s not that I think he deserves to be sacked because he obviously doesn’t, it’s just been so boring and uninteresting to watch football under him as the manager since the start of his tenure, hopefully that changes but I’m not convinced. And people might argue that we’re still getting results but I’m not convinced it’ll continue, and losing twice to the worst Hearts team of the century really doesn’t help either. -

Probably, the 6 months between January and August 2018 were without doubt my favourite over a sustained period (beating 2016 on the difference that 2016 was far more up and down). Realistically I wouldn’t want either, just a manager that plays good football and has us challenging for Europe. Tony Mowbray where u at? -

That was an utterly horrendous game of football. I hate to say I think our current league position won’t last long. We are so utterly boring to watch, I find myself spending most of our games checking scores in other games rather than watching the football, which back in the day when we used to be able to go to games used to drive me nuts seeing folk do that. It’s just so unbelievably slow, I don’t think I’ve actually enjoyed a game we played since we beat St Mirren and they had our man Bobby in goals. -

Have we improved under her? Definitely Am I bothered she’s leaving? Nope, Heckingbottom, loyalty points, £100k on fancy CCTV, Oli Shaw the best striker in Europe, poor transfer fees considering the standard of player we’ve had the past few years among other weird things she’s said/done. She’s far from perfect and isn’t the tremendous CEO some of our support and other supports make her out to be. Interested to see who replaces her and what happens now, I’m sure all sorts of rumours will start to fly around about what’s brought it on etc which tbh, I’m looking forward to. Heres to the whatsapp rumours of unrest at the club, Ron Gordon selling Easter Road, administration, a mass exodus of staff and many more. -
Hibernian v St Johnstone

Some players can’t handle the step up from a plucky small community club to a gargantuan outfit like ourselves, it’s understandable. -
I’ll let you know how the event goes and see if I am in a high enough tax band to muster a smirk the whole way through, as much as he is a Tory p***k, I decided to sign up for it because it’s free. Unfortunately burning down the office isn’t viable with this pishy working from home malarkey.

My work have no word of a lie booked Michael McIntyre for a stand up zoom show, where we’re able to enter a raffle to have your face on the zoom call with him and everyone who doesn’t win is a spectator. I’ll let you make your own conclusions from this.

Hibernian v St Johnstone

Death, taxes and an opposing fan complaining about two poor teams/poor game when their team fails to beat st johnstone..... thought it was quite an entertaining game with both sides having plenty chances. Not the first time I’ve complained about us being poor and pish to watch this season sir, St Johnstone didn’t look any better, therefore were also poor, nice to see it’s rattled you tho
