  1. Camelon 0 (4) v (3) 0 Newtongrange Star

First time at The Moore Equipment Hire Stadium (will always be Carmuirs Park to me) in 14 years for me despite living locally and working a stones throw away from the stadium.

Much change in the stadium and my son says the food is better there than TFS!!

Game itself wasn't up to much, both keepers only had 1 or 2 saves to make each. Could tell it would finish 0-0 after about an hour so no shock when that was exactly how it finished after extra time. Camelon keeper made two good saves in the shoot out that ultimately made the difference

  2. Our son's birthday is Sunday and last Friday I placed an online order for a birthday cake from Costco using her membership number and email address. She kept going on about how she hasn't had an email from Costco about it.

I had heard enough of her moaning by last night so ordered the same cake from Costco using my own membership no and email address and received an email acknowledgement within 10 minutes that went into my junk folder. I told her this and got "I've checked my junk and there's nothing there" in reply.

Guess what I spotted in her junk email folder as she scrolled...

It's somehow MY fault that I never checked HER emails for the acknowledgement

Can’t mind him playing there for the first team. Definitely played midfield for the U19s when I seen him play.

I ran the line a few times in Falkirk u19 games when Arfield, Moffat, Allison, Mitchell, Stewart were coming through the ranks. Arfield only ever played in midfield in those games

I can’t say, but I would expect that a return to the environment you were previously in, even with adaptations and changes, would likely come with a wee bit of a let down because “everything” hasn’t magically changed. Things take time to work through and there is, in todays society, an (unrealistic) expectation of immediate results.

The question is how is your battle with the feeling that drove this? I would certainly consider checking back in with a MHN or you prescriber if you feel anything is truly unusual in your reaction.

I know you're right and I'm maybe overthinking things and expecting things to be back to normal quicker than they're going to be. To be fair to my bosses there's been no pressure from them and I can't complain about the support I've had, I'm probably more concerned than i should be about what my colleagues think about me returning and not having the same workload as them.

Just watched Lawals goal on highlights.  Much better than i thought. Great bit of skill by him and young Walker.  Bodes well.

Long deserves some credit too for the quick throw to Walker.

If I'm being critical of anything last night and the Stirling game then it's not putting some of the younger lads on earlier for some experience but I do get why it's the more senior players who go on first. I also feel that by making the number of subs we do and the players who are being replaced then the pace and intensity seems to drop, again that's understandable but just a bit frustrating.

Nearly 3 weeks after posting this but today I had a telephone appointment with a Mental Health Nurse from my local GP surgery. After offloading everything to her, she has signed me off work for 4 weeks and prescribed 'sleeping aids'.

She was absolutely amazing. I dare say that what I told her won't even scratch the sides of some stuff she will have heard in her time but she really was fantastic.

I got a feeling that there's a reluctance to prescribe antidepressants and when she went through the time they take to get into your system, the time it takes to wean you off at the other end and the side effects I can see why that would be the case.

I really would encourage anybody with any mental health issues to speak to a Mental Health Nurse than a doctor. What's the worst that can happen?

After 9 weeks off sick, I got a transfer back to my old post and an OH referral. Done 3 weeks of a phased return and this week was my first full week back full time working.

For some reason despite my employer pulling out all the stops and getting what I was after, I just feel flat. Is this normal?

  8. This is either a PTTGOYN or one for the Pregnancy and Parenting thread but from about lunchtime today my 8 year old son has been trying to put an Ultimate FIFA team together via some app/website. He keeps asking me who the best RB/LB/CB/CM/GK's in the world are.

I've now realised that my knowledge of world football is really really poor

4 schoolkids died in a crash on their way to celebrate exam results in Clonmel last night and there are reports of a private drone filming the scene to share on social media.

This seems a new low. What is wrong with people?

Because a lot of people are scum and it's all about the likes and comments on social media

Was that not Scott “Butter” Flinders?

It was definitely Higgins. I'm sure he spilt one through his legs in the first half then let a cross/free kick from John Rankin go through his fingers.

I remember having a feeling as soon as he put his arms up to catch Rankin's effort that it would go straight through him

You’d need to.  If Dougie Imrie ever gets anywhere near Falkirk I’m handing in my season ticket.

3 games in, this chat is horrendous.  “Sack the manager”.  Ffs

We employed Steven Pressley and Paul Hartley as managers, two of the most hated men in Scottish football.

Can Dougie Imrie be much worse?

  12. We're all full of the joys today! Talk of getting beat by Stirling Albion and the ramifications that would have when we're about to play our 3rd league game of the season. That's THIRD as in first, second, third.

Lets all turn up tonight, get right behind the lads, expect the unexpected and COYB

I joined my club too late to play in the singles and pairs competitions this season. Playing in the club rinks/fours on Sunday with the three who won the club triples last season.

Dumped out in the first match today by the 4 who then went on and won. Really enjoyable day despite getting beat with warm weather, no rain, great chat, watching of the WWC Final and plenty of liquid refreshments as is normal on these days!!

  14. I joined my club too late to play in the singles and pairs competitions this season. Playing in the club rinks/fours on Sunday with the three who won the club triples last season. Club triples is at the start of September and while I'd love to play in it, it's the day before my sons birthday so unless there's a pair looking for a third player I'm also happy to not play in that.

Playing twice for the club this year in the local league so I can't really complain about anything.

Already looking forward to next season and getting more involved

My point was the referee is nowhere in sight - he wasn’t keeping up with play.
The assistant might be by the corner flag but we have no evidence of that from the still.
His position is immaterial. We were sitting a few feet away from him and commented during the game he was giving a standard Scottish AR performance - indicating throw ins once the referee had awarded it, not flagging for obvious fouls (for both sides), letting throw ins and free kicks be taken yards from the correct position (for both sides).
Anyway, the mistake didn’t change the outcome of the game and this is a VAR thread so I’ll leave you to it.

You know the officials are miked up during the game eh? And they have the ability to talk to each other as a result? Just because an official doesn't flag (this is purely done to "sell" the decision) doesn't mean he's not telling the ref anything

Big game today. I very much fancy chipfat heid to get sacked this season. A few early defeats to pile on the pressure. Probably a cagey 0-0 having said that.

Not a chance the greasy rat is getting sacked seeing as his father in law is the chairman or is the one pumping the money in

  17. Delighted the Aussies won though I felt France were the better team overall.

If we didn't want England to get beat before today then Karen Carney's comment before extra time started of "obviously the winner will play England" has changed that.

  18. Was thinking that England really got away with that one but apart from hitting the bar twice, I only remember Earps really having one save to make in the 120 minutes.

They're going to win this thing now aren't they but without the golden girl?
