Just had an email round - someone has complained about staff bringing children into the buildings. So, don't bring your kids in.

I am guessing this is because we had a woman recently back from maternity leave bring her new kid in to show off to people. Someone has taken petty umbrage.

We had one of those internal forums on our intranet and somebody posted something similar a few years back (anonymously of course) as they believed it was breaching data protection/security and H&S rules. It was met by a pretty resounding "go f*ck yourself" reply.

I honestly believe to this day it was somebody at the wind up.

Some chat on the COYB page that songs about Norrie McCathie were being sung by the new choir. Is this really true? If so I really think it is time that the club said something about it and we started talking about banning folk.

I don't remember hearing "the Norrie song" but there was definitely something being sung about "gas a fifer he's deid".

I said this after the first game at EEP last season but there's absolutely no need for those kind of songs being sung and most of those who are singing them weren't even born when he died. I don't care if Dunfermline fans are singing songs about deceased Falkirk players, we can only deal with our own idiots

Donaldson is a better defender than Mckay for me. There just needs to be work done on when he releases the ball and to whom.

I agree he's a better defender but he's been a professional footballer for a number of years, he should know by now when to release and to who

In the games I've seen this season (CSS and DU in the flesh, PT and Spartans highlights) it's not the full-back areas that are being exposed - It's our two centre-backs who are taking too many risks!

I dont necessarily disagree with what you say, I just don't think either looks comfortable there but are having to play there out of necessity. As a result we lose a lot of attacking threat down that side, again just like last season.

Surely there's a right back available somewhere?

  5. Last night was my first game of the season and I was looking forward to seeing if anything had changed since last season.

There are a number of positives to take from that performance but at the same time a number of glaringly obvious negatives.

    I'll start with the negatives:

Finn Yeats is never a right back and I don't want to see him there again. It's not his fault he's having to cover there

Coll Donaldson is a liability. Somebody who thinks he's better than he is and it always seems to be somebody else's fault when he makes a mistake

Stephen McGinn doesn't have the legs to play two games in 4 days, time definitely catching up

Agyeman is going to both frustrate and delight this season. Whether it's more frustration or delight remains to be seen

Lawal was like a man short and rightly hooked at half time. Back on the bench for him or play him further forward

Can we get Yeats or McCann on free kicks and corners? I'm sure they took a few at the start of last season and we looked dangerous from them.

We are so slow and ponderous getting forward. Just like last season

    The positives for me were:

Long looked a decent keeper, probably our best player

Lang - error aside - looks solid

McKay was ok at right back. It's not his natural position and it showed, again not his fault he's having to cover there.

Finn Yeats in the middle of the park looked more natural. Not afraid to get stuck in and try to play forward, would like to see him stay there with Spencer

Liked the look of Calvin Miller when he came on.

We created chances and against L1 sides I'd like to think we'd take some of them, it's a question of taking them against the QotS, Hamilton and Cove that will decide whether we win the league or not.

Over the course of the Partick and DU games, we've gone toe to toe with a side who were penalty kicks away from promotion to the Premiership and lost to the side relegated from the Premiership due to a bad mistake.

  6. Hoping somebody can help with this. My son was given this over the weeken by one of his pals, it's from the Junior Bairns coaching day at Xmas 2022. I can't work out who the signatures are though I think this one might be Stevie Hetherington (below Nicky Hogarth)

As I understand it, the B team will be made up of modern apprentices and first teamers who're not getting gametime or returning from injury.

We put the likes of Lennon Walker, Kyle Connolly, Scott Honeyman and Finlay Malcolm out on loan last season.  I suppose we could also do the same with the 5 MAs this season.  Though they would likely end up at clubs of a similar stature to last seasons loanees.

What would it gain us? Not much I'd suggest. They would still train with our first team outwith a matchday. And if they played with Bo'ness United, East Stirlingshire and Open Goal Broomhill once a week would the coaches there enhance their development and help turn them into the next Jay Fulton or Scott Arfield?

    I rather doubt it.

The Falkirk manager would still arrange friendlies to get our injured / nonplaying first teamers gametime, in which case the MAs would be needed anyway.

I just don't see any benefit to your idea. Never mind the obvious downsides.

I agree, it's not as if we'd save on the MA's wages either as presumably we would still be paying those?

This will be controversial but I would also be looking to free up resources from other areas of the club (such as youth development) to bring in a right back.

Who has suggested binning the youth system?

If you're not binning it then how do you propose to "free up resources" from it?

    Manchester United 1-0 Olympic Lyon

Pretty drab preseason fair. Manchester United looked bit more interested than Lyon who didn’t have a shot on target that I can remember. Crowd 48,484 in attendance. Glad my ticket was free.

Was at this game today as well. Pretty drab is a good way to describe it, any pace to the game was gone after Utd scored

Just a wee snippet re McGlynn.

Was at a birthday bash a few weeks back and had a chat with an ex director of Raith.

His take on McGlynn was the same as DF. Interestingly he also said that the team were miles better when McGlynn had to take a few months off for health reasons. Smith then took charge of the team as interim manager and it was like "night and day", only to revert back to boring when mcGlynn came back.

Saying that...if the club were to get rid of the Management team, they only need to sack McGlynn and replace him with Smith. Only one contract to pay off :)

I'm not getting involved in the manager debate but I bumped into a Raith fan in Dalaman airport a few weeks back and he said McGlynn doesn't do change unless it's forced on him. He said the same about Smith as the director you mention.

I take it Hogarth, Oliver, McKay, Allan, Henderson, Nesbitt, Miller, Carroll must all have knocks. Some of them the majority wouldn’t want in the squad but you would think if they were fit they would be included even if only on the bench.

As @gav-ffc and @Andy Dufresne have said, Oliver was suspended and I think Allan will also be suspended after his red card v Airdrie in the playoffs.

Henderson missed training at the open day and Nesbitt missed a large part of that as well for an unknown reason.

Maybe they don't have much confidence in McGlynn either? So covering their arses.

Then they would surely have punted him at the end of the season?

Seems foolish to not give somebody the tools to do the job you want them to do and keep those back in case you need to sack them for not doing it.

We couldn't again beat Edinburgh, Kelty or Clyde and threw away 2 goal leads against Dunfermline and Airdrie.

From memory didn't Burrell score to equalise late on v Airdrie to make it 2-2? I don't remember us being 2 up in that game though my memory isn't as good as it was so I'm OK to be told I'm wrong

I think that is a hefty exaggeration of McGlynn’s loan market dealings. He has had his share of successes, but he has also had his share of abject failures too.

In no way is he some grand master of the loan market over his 17 year career. That’s just not true.

Off the top of my head, Hughes signed a number of players who turned to sh*te while at Falkirk (I'm not going into the whole Hughes fall outs with some players), yet he also signed some who excelled.

It's not as if McGlynn is alone in making good and bad signings, even De Bruyne and Salah turned out to be poor signings at Chelsea but now look at them!

We have this work chat thing where it's meant for folk basically letting off steam or chatting about non work related stuff, generally just filled with people asking what's for dinner or moaning about their jobs, there's this one girl who's been off with anxiety for about 6 months who is chatting away on it all day, recently someone was moaning about being back to back workloads and she posted a massive spiel about how reading this stuff heightens her anxiety and if people don't stop moaning she won't be able to return to work. This chat is on a work laptop that she's choosing to look at to wind herself up. It's almost impressive.

    Attention seeking at its finest

I've been off sick with depression for 6 weeks now. Apart from day 1 when my boss asked me to log in on my work laptop and put my out of office on, not once have I been tempted to open it since and I've left the team what's app chat until i return. Sod reading work stuff when you're off sick!

Ola and Allan could be two huge players for us this season. Alongside Morrison, Agyeman, Miller and Spencer we could have the best attack in the league. Early days and still 2 or three players short imo.

Tom Lang looks like a big solid centre half. He scored a cracker during one game at the end and cleared one off the line later on which I particularly liked.

My main observation - and it could be the absence of Hendo today - but we don't seem to have much physicality in the middle of the pitch though happy to be corrected.

I know what you mean some will run after a ball all day but when it comes to just running hate it and struggle. Certainly Allen was well involved in the games and looked sharp enough.

I was there with my son and his pal. There were some players who were naturally fit and others who struggled but put a ball at their feet and they're fine.

Allan looked sharp to me during the games at the end, thought Ola was brilliant
