Ayrshire referee Ross Menzies in charge for the Luncarty game.

Looks like his last BU game was our match at Bonnyrigg Rose when we lost 5-2 in the Scottish Cup.

He awarded Bonnyrigg Rose no less than THREE penalties that day.

In other words he's "not afraid to make big decisions" or a mini Collum

  2. Driving to work this morning and there's a woman sauntering across the road either filming herself on her mobile or having a Facetime/WhatsApp video call paying absolutely no attention to the roadway! Thankfully I saw her as there's no way she saw me or anybody else approaching

Had a really odd experience the other day.... Was my birthday this week and evidently iv hit the point where no one really gives a f**k that its my birthday anymore, which I'd always assumed I was OK with, but an IOU message in the hastily written card off the wife must have landed a bit, cos as the day went on I just felt.... Sad. When I was driving home from work, I actually felt.like crying. Just floored mood-wise. It was really weird.

Then I got to thinking about some shit thats happened of late. Specifically afew weeks ago the wife having a bit of a meltdown that she can't keep going like we are because I'm not affectionate enough and she doesn't feel as loved as she should. Nothing to do with falling out or me not doing my bit or working hard or being a good parent, just this sort of intangible thing that's missing from my personality.... Anyway that was a few weeks ago and it's sort of got better, but again I think it might have left a mark on me, cos I got to thinking, I know she's spoke to her various pals about these problems. Women do. So now there's all these folk who have some sort of opinion on my marriage and subsequently of me, but I don't have anyone asking me what I think or feel. My pals aren't really that type of guy.... I'm not either.

It's just the whole things made me feel like I'm sort of in a lot of folks periphery, but no ones focus. I just get on and handle my shit, which is hard as we never really get a break from the kids due to lack of family, then when something makes me feel shite I don't really have many places to turn.

Going back to the feeling of sudden sadness, iv never felt anything like it. I think il.habe to keep a eye on it, because it's the first time iv ever felt maybe there is a genuine issue there

Long post like, but felt I needed to vent it

As others have said, vent away on here!

Your wife says you're not affectionate enough but is she putting the effort in she's expecting you to put in? Women seem to have an expectation of men that isn't what they get yet if men had the same thought towards women we'd be accused of being immature.

How do you know she has spoken to her friends about your relationship? Are you imagining this has happened or has she told you specifics? I remember six women at work venting about their husbands one day, finally I had enough of it after half an hour and simply asked them how they would feel if they knew their husband were venting at work about them the same way they were doing. They've never done that again since and if they have I haven't been present.

I sometimes wonder if the 24/7 news coverage and social media negatively impacts people's mental health nowadays. If it's not the Israel/Gaza situation, it's the war in Ukraine, cost of living, weather, darker nights, colder weather then with daily life of working, keeping a house running, taking kids here there and everywhere life seems to pass by in an instant and its the people closest to us that suffer as do we.

At least you've realised there's something not right and you want to sort it out. Alcohol is the answer in the very short term but then you'll feel terrible afterwards. Is there any family at all who could take the kids even for a few hours to let you and your wife go out for a meal or just to let you have some time together alone?

Hope you feel better for venting, that's what this thread is for

  4. Thought BU deserved the win last night. Celtic had the majority of the possession without ever looking like scoring. I don't recall the BU keeper having a save of note other than tipping a cross over the bar.

Well taken goal by the BU player (Grant?) though the ball clearly moved in the air to deceive the keeper. Should have been 2-0 later in the second half only for the BU player to hit the keeper when it seemed easier to score.

Couldn't see what went on in the commotion that led to the red card for the Celtic player but I can only assume he's lifted his hands?

Thought the BU fullbacks struggled against the pace of the Celtic wide players though the centre halves were outstanding clearing everything that got into the box. My MoM would be the BU number 5, he strolled the full game

Saturday at 3pm is usually Fitbaw time but our next 3 fixtures are:-

    Tuesday 17/10 BU v Celtic B @745

    Sunday !! 22/10 Stirling Uni v BU @ 3

Saturday 28/10 @2pm Scottish Cup at Luncarty.

I was planning to go along to the game tonight. Its pretty foggy in Falkirk and showing no signs of lifting, will the game be in any doubt tonight?

The last Ryder Cup match of that day finished at 17:57 and the Luis Diaz goal was 34 minutes into that game, which means it was at 18:04 (give or take a minute). Therefore it's unlikely that they could have been distracted by that in any way. You could also tell from the the released audio that they were all very actively involved in discussing the incident.

I've been to the VAR centre used in Scotland, and I assume the one in England is very similar - the only things being in that room are monitors showing the games they are refereeing on, there certainly isn't going to be a TV on the wall or anything like that, it's supposed to be a "sterile" environment.

I think these types of stories stem from the same basic thing that also brought about the paranoia and suspicion which led to VAR - some people find it very difficult to accept that human beings make mistakes sometimes, and even make mistakes of enormous magnitude occasionally.

Fair enough, it did seem a bit far fetched when I heard it.

As you say, people make mistakes and refs are people, they're not robots

You only need to take a look at the disclosed evidence from south of the border to see that this 'opinion of multuple officials' claim is not sound too. One VAR official deliberately overlooked a clear red card to stop his mate having to go to the VAR screen and overturn a call. The more senior clowns ignored the basic points of offside in the Spurs-Liverpool game despite it being pointed out to them during the decision-making process. Incompetent and arrogant officials marking the homework of their mates is not a sufficiently 'fair' or accurate system to make up for all its impacts on the game.

I can't remember where I heard it but there was some chat somewhere that the VAR officials in the Spurs v Liverpool game were distracted by the Ryder Cup being on at the same time. Shocking if true and I'd hope they will be sufficiently demoted

Noticed today the old classic - diversion off Graham's Rd, signposted to go along Dalderse Ave/Thornhill Rd.

200m after turning onto Thornhill Rd.....there's 3-way temporary lights.

I took my son to the barbers on the corner of Thornhill Road and Queen Street and while he was in the chair sat and watched the utter chaos. Best of it is there were hundreds of empty spaces as folk were clearly thinking to park elsewhere

I havent worked out how they can justify the increases.

I was down at my Mums yesterday helping her upload her NCD evidence to her new insurer.

She was previously with SAGA, does (I shit you not) about 1000 miles a year, and for her 66 plate 1100cc VW Polo they wanted £550 - up from £350 !!

    Its a fucking scam.

My insurance went up from £287ish to about £450. Phoned them to cancel and they gave me the same policy for the same price as last year.

They're absolutely at it and hiding behind "the interest rate rise" excuse

  10. I went to my bowling club last night to watch the Scotland game and she picked me up after it finished. She then drove home at 37 in a 40 in 3rd gear with her hand on the gearstick while the dashboard was telling her to change up!!

I now know why we go through so much fuel! I've seen her dad and sister doing the same thing so it must be a hereditary thing

Nothing happens in Scottish football without haughey and lawal saying aye everyone knows that and  anything to insure that queen's who are currently dropping like a stone in the championship stay up will be in the table to make sure haugheys vanity project continues.

I know he's good and a hero to some on here but I don't think Ola's got much of a say in the running of Scottish Football

Does this mean he's gulty but got off with it due to the Judge being a dick?

Why not try him again with a Jury?

It was ruled there was insufficient evidence for a conviction. If that's still the case then there can't be a retrial.

Even if there was enough evidence for a retrial, the poor girl was raped, given Police a statement(s), presumably had internal swabs taken, gone over her statement(s) with the PF's at least once and then had to relive it again in court including being cross examined by the defence.

Is it fair to put her through all that again?

Has there been any fallout from the pyro on Saturday?  I don’t usually mind them, but throwing fireworks and setting fire to an advertising board isn’t the brightest move!

It's been mentioned before but considering there were searches taking place outside the KM7, i cant understand how the pyro got in!

Totally consistent with Rankin’s personality as a player. A petulant individual who always tried to wind up opposition. Felt ref could & should have yellow carded the Accies player who fouled Agyeman in opening minutes & surprised they kept 11 men on pitch.

There were two fouls on the left and one through the middle on Agyeman that should have been yellows. I did wonder if Euan Anderson was factoring in the conditions and the challenges being early in the game but to then yellow card Liam Henderson first having let those ones go was poor.

If the game is off, it'll be a Police Scotland decision.

I'm not 100% the game will go ahead.

I get where you're coming from but if it's a Police Scotland decision to put it off then surely Police Scotland will have to put every game off in the areas affected by the rain?
