Not for me- there’s a reason McGlynn signed Mackie and has tried to get him in the team on a number of occasions.

For now he has clearly decided that McCann’s attacking ability outweighs Mackie’s defensive strength (which is fair enough given the opposition we are currently facing. But that equation could well change a league up.

By the end of this season, Sean Mackie will have been at Falkirk for two full seasons. He looked good at centre back at the start of last season but then became pretty rash. He has had injuries that have kept him out for periods of time but if he hasn't nailed down a place in L1 after two seasons then I'd imagine he'll be released at the end of the season.

If you need cheered up see the 3rd, 4th and fifth goal here.

Shocking defending but what's more obvious is the empty seats in the NM stand. That was packed in the games against us last season and probably most of last season when they were doing well. Just shows that once the bounce wears off and people start finding other things to do on a Saturday its hard to tempt them back and highlights how loyal our fan base is

Going on them spending 60k on Declan McManus from Dunfermline and the guy doubling his wages to go down there to me would suggest they have a pretty healthy playing budget. That won’t be a one off and it’s probably a decent indication as to what they are spending on the rest of that squad.

They also have the guy Jordan Marshall who played for Dundee in the Premiership, he won't be cheap either

  4. We didn't deserve anything from tonight. Two shots on target all game? Our passing and overall sharpness seemed off from the start.

TNS weren't up to much but they were strong, physical, pacy and streetwise. A lot of which we weren't.

Such a disappointing goal to lose but that's going to happen when you want to pass the ball around at the back and into midfield. I'm not angry at Lang for trying to play football, I'm more angry that he seemed to be blaming Hogarth for the goal.

If somebody offered me a win tonight and defeat on the 17th v Hamilton or defeat tonight and win v Hamilton then I'd take the win over Hamilton all day.

The recent youngsters that have come through the new youth teams have looked a million miles off ever becoming first team regulars which shows it can't be done more cheaply easily either.

They may not be ready to be regulars but I trust McGlynn’s judgement. The year they are all spending on loan will do them the world of good

  6. I wasnt there yesterday and watched both clubs highlights packages last night. I'm not getting involved in the whose is better than whose debate (its not much of a debate, really).

What Alloa's showed better I thought - and I've only watched it once - was there a foul throw by McCann at the start of the move for the second goal? Looked as if a foot came up as he threw the ball which from my own refereeing days was a foul throw. We might have got away with one there.

I also thought from both highlights package that it did look a dive by Miller but at the same time he may have stood on the ball.

Very clear on both highlights that the ref wasn't giving a free kick until the assistant flagged before Hendo's goal

While we are revelling in the moment, I have a question.

It's time I got a new Falkirk shirt, so can someone confirm if the XL is more a loose fit or if it helps to buy 1 size up?

They are pretty true to size, buy whatever size you usually wear in a top

Really good game today. Some great football,.fantastic goals and a very decent crowd of 764.

Was that all? Looked more from where I was stood.

Really enjoyed that game today as a neutral. Rose were the better team in the first half and deservedly went in 2-1 up at half time. I thought numbers 17 and 7 were the scorers but I think the guy on the PA announced both goals scored by the same player?

Celtic were the better team in the second half but you would expect that to be the case with the full time fitness. Draw was a fair result I thought

Great news about Coll, has came on a long way since last season, what a difference not having Ryan Williamson to his right and Brad Mckay to his left.

    Well deserved.

Clowns to the left, jokers to the right?

Good to see the captain signing a new contract, hopefully sets an example that others will follow.

I do hope the players put on loan have a stipulation in their loan agreement that they do not play against Falkirk

I'm sure it's in SFA/SPFL rules. Jay Hogarth was unable to play for Dumbarton v Rangers at the weekend as he's on loan at Dumbarton from Rangers despite Rangers being happy for him to play

Lots of things have gone wrong before. In fact, pretty much everything.

His positive influence behind the scenes has been well documented and he would be an option, should McGlynn lose the dressing room.

We've lost 1 game in 27, clear at the top of the league and you think McGlynn’s going to lose the dressing room?

    Go ring your pants out

Julie absolutely threw that women's final away, but tbf the lassie Rednal isn't a bad player!! The boy harry Goodwin's been chapping at the door for something like this, he's won national titles on England, he's an internationalist etc so I'm not too surprised, same when Mark Dawes appeared a few years ago! I think for quality of bowling, if we get an Anderson Foster final we won't be disappointed!!

As you say, Roll on the outdoor!!

Watched both mens semi's this afternoon while following the football via BBC website. Marshall v Foster was a brilliant match and worthy of being the final itself.

Anderson has been playing very well but so has Marshall. It's a toss up to decide the winner

  13. Been watching some of the World Indoor championships this week. Men's QF's today with the defending champion knocked out by a young lad named Harry Goodwin, wins for Alex Marshall against Les Gillett, Paul Foster against Nick Brett and Stewart Anderson winning his QF.

Scotland now has 3 of the 4 mens semi finalists, Marshall v Foster playing against each other tomorrow. We also had Julie Forrest winning the Mixed Pairs this week and finishing as runner up in the womens singles final.

Only 10 or 11 weeks till the outdoor season starts

MacIver back in contention with someone else a doubt according to McGlynn

It's Donaldson or Lang. My money would be on Donaldson, that sniper from Edinburgh must have left the big man crocked

Can only be Mackie or Hendo at centre half if one of them are out

The club stated it had to pay for roof repairs due to last winters storms, there was no mention the Council contributed and there was no statement made by the council that they had.

Not going into the stadium issue. My post related to a post regarding space in the main stand and who owns it. Commented that the club repaired the roof above it.

Some folk don't have get themselves wound up defending the stadium situation the club is saddled with.

Get a grip and put things in perspective.

Why would Falkirk Council issue a statement to say they paid towards roof repairs on a building they own? Maybe the club did pay for roof repairs but maybe they also contributed in the same way someone else referred to people in a block of flats contributing an equal share towards any roof repairs.

As per @LatapyBairn.says, you maybe need to take your own advice

  16. 34 minutes ago, HopeStreetWalker said:

Well the last roof repairs were paid for by FFC and the council did not pay a penny towards the costs.

You are welcome to prove otherwise, which you won't because you can't

I did not start the thread on the stadium matter and my comment was valid. If you find the facts uncomfortable - tough

    Got the receipt?

Ian Sneddon we're talking about here. He's arguably the worst ref I've ever seen. Sure it was him when we played Kelty Hearts at home earlier in the season and our players kept getting booked for soft fouls, meanwhile they were getting away with murder. Utterly woeful referee.

Was the same guy. He’s an absolute buffoon.

Not wishing to defend the ref too much as he is an utter clown but he did also give us that dodgy penalty at Kelty this season.

Two wrongs don't make a right so crack on with the slating of him

  18. 3 hours ago, Ned Nederlander said:

I saw him point to the spot but I couldn't convince anyone in our group that he'd given a penalty - even when the protests had settled and Miller was getting ready to take it I was still getting told it hadn't been given.

Mind you it took us about 15 minutes to realise Morrison hadn't come on at half time ... and in a special mention to the view shout out to the seated Falkirk fans who celebrated a 'goal' about 5 minutes from the end 😋

I wasn't there but in the highlights you can hear the whistle and the refs left arm pointing somewhere vaguely between the penalty spot and six yard line. I get why there's confusion
