  1. Nice finish to the test, and it goes to show how one or two deliveries can change the course of a whole test match. At tea I turned it off as it seemed a foregone conclusion. Turned it back in at 8 down and I thought NZ were going to chuck it with their bouncer tactics, but what do I know? England should feel aggrieved though, that second last ball was a clear wide, and the umpire shat it because it would have brought the scores level. A couple of posts on here and three days of a test match and I'm absolutely desperate to start playing again
  2. Teas can be a mixed bag, but were the highlight of most games for me, especially if we bowled first. Once played a team that just threw a multi pack of crisps into our changing room. Used to enjoy Murrayfield when they did the pies. Leith did pie and beans as well. Largo was good, as were most of the fife village clubs. As a captain, explaining the concept of bringing "tea for two" to home games was always fun, as people's interpretation of enough food for two people varied. Had a guy bring a jam sandwich and said it counted as it was two slices of bread. The concept didn't quite make it to the USA, shitty subway sandwiches every time.
  3. I'm not sure what the club really could have done publically between the time of the incident and him going to court. I can't remember what punishment the court handed out, but if the club did something internally before the court thing, do they then punish him again just so they can be seen to be doing something? If it was related to his family situation, do the club kick him while he is down or do they support him? Either way, he got drunk, acted like a dick, said something homophobic, and got caught and punished for it, both by the court, and by the looks of it by the club at the time. None of us need to like him for it, but he doesn't need to lose his job either.
  4. Was screaming for a penalty on obika there, and don't know how it wasn't given. Never mind though. Nice of slats to mention that he takes free kicks. We definitely deserved the point with all the chances we made in the second half. Giving the goalie man of the match for us hitting the ball right at him was daft. If that's the criteria then ash Taylor should have walked away with it. Surprised Robinson came off when he was causing us trouble. Hes too old for that hair though. Killie fans are very angry, eh? Were the pies cold?
  5. I love Jimmy Anderson. I don't really like England, but I'll be sad when he retires. I'm thinking about un-retiring this summer, if I can cut about 20lbs I might. Or maybe I'll just be a spinner. Weirdly one thing I miss is being fully involved in the club. When I was back home I did about everything, including the website and the ground, here I just turn up and play, which isn't the same. They don't allow sledging here either, which is lame.
  6. They always know, but I'm a bowler. Re-retired a couple of years ago after 25+ years, it's a great game to play, and I miss it a lot. Theres plenty of clubs around Scotland (assuming that's where you are) and all levels are covered. Let me know where you're looking and I can recommend some.
  7. Good to see that Joe, Mika, and Blaney are all back training, adding that to bevis getting some minutes should give us decent competition for places going into the run in. Hopefully we don't do injuries on the one in one out system too.
  8. I liked Frear. Left wingers have always, and will always be my favourite. I didn't like the attempts to play him at left wing back though. Someone tried that with me, and I just played up front anyway, and that was my last game in the Greater Memphis soccer league. Lionel Ainsworth really did hate killie though. I miss him.
  9. KVV is good. He can drop out of games and his general demeanor makes him look like he's uninterested, but I don't think he's lazy. My problem with him is that he doesn't always release the ball to others, but he seems to be more open minded in a front two with obika. Maybe he needs to work with the recruitment guys to help identify people he likes Im happy to keep him for as long as possible, but he definitely needs competition so that we don't have to send him out there with his arm hanging off.
  10. We have butcher for next season too. It will be interesting to see who we try to keep, outside of Johnston, who is a no brainer. I like Casey and obika, and the flashes i've seen of Aitchison. I wonder if Casey is just a short term deal until the US season starts again. Realistically I think the new manager will want to bring in their own players, so I don't see us going all out to retain the out of contract folk.
  11. I didn't know he was a gammon, but I strongly suspected it. If we're looking for a short term appointment it needs to be kettlewell now. We can give the youth teams the rest of the season off.
  12. Yeah, particularly when he doesn't consider Connor Shields a person.
  13. I'm getting some singing kettle pics ready and starting to work on some songs in preparation for kettlewells appointment. Think Callum butcher and bunny foo foo will work.
  14. I think our terrible run was as much due to a lack of confidence than anything. I don't believe our players downed tools or didn't try. What did happen was hammell trying to be too clever and not playing to our squads strengths. He wanted to play a certain system, and shoehorned our squad into it. We had midfielders who were outnumbered, and had no one to play the ball to when they had it. We also had full backs who had no cover, and center backs that are made of chocolate. Obika and KVV together is fun.
  15. Fair assessment, but saying we couldn't sign players because of the pitch, then saying he left early so the new manager could buy players doesn't add up. He did have the option of signing someone who wasn't Josh Morris. I think putting our ground out of commission right before a European game, and fucking up with getting friendlies organized was a bigger failing of the club. Not sure if we could have timed the pitch renovation better, but we surely could have done better with the friendlies. Overall, he did more than what was asked of him, but we didn't like the way he did it. I wouldn't be as nice about it as him. I'm interested in the injury prevention programme he set up, did he take it with him when he left?
  16. I don't think the papers would be interested in Beyonce buying motherwell.
  17. Interesting. Always interested to know what's in it for folk that invest in football teams. I get the whole sports washing thing with the super rich owners, and me when I win the lottery, but what do these relatively small consortia get from it? Will be interesting to see how the well society would fit with something like that. One of the biggest selling points of it is that it keeps us safe from bad guys buying us for bad reasons.
  18. I like kettlewell, but I'd like to bring in someone from outside so that we can add to our grand total of two coaches at the club. I don't have any issues with the 3 candidates, they all fit the profile of every shite of candidates we've had outside of the hammell appointment. I don't think we can go too far wrong with any of them. Personally, I value someone understanding the Scottish game over how many pals they have in England, especially with the current situation, so I'd edge towards Ross in that respect. Do any of the three of them tend to bring the same assistants with them?
  19. I like dean, but he's not the player some think he is. He has been left with a lot of dirty work to do in games, because he will run all day, but he looks way better when he's pressing nearer the front, and makes good forward runs when he's allowed to. Goss and Spittal aren't as bad as people like to make out either.
  20. We've learned our lesson about "performances over results" right?
  21. Hopefully the board realize that we've had two new manager bounces, which means we need the new guy in by Sunday to beat hearts, then we'll sack him.
