It's more than possible that regardless of what has happened the last season or two, or what we have offered him, that he just doesn't want to sign a contract with us.
I don't like the idea of loaning out a player when they only have one year to go though. If the loan is to develop the player, then we should be trying to sign them to a longer deal first. If the loan is to evaluate the player before offering a contract, then we're playing with fire.
Either way, I hope we manage to negotiate our usual sell-on fee, as maybe with him going to Italy we might actually get something from this one, with Campbell and Turnbull's not looking too likely at the moment.
