Kilmarnock's Next Permanent Manager
Leith Green replied to Ludo*1's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
John Hughes is cited by loads of players that he has previously managed as being a very tactically astute and good man manager. Just because he talks like a Leith docker doesnt make him daft. -
Do Rangers get a "free pass" from referees?
Leith Green replied to Ric's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
You are almost there. So, lets say I agree with the premise that "all teams benefit from crap on field decisions"? The bit in bold is the contentious part (for me, anyway) where we have referees not making decisions or not taking strong enough action..........and it seems to help your club more than most (because your players remained on the park and you win the points). The assertion that "there are more cameras on Rangers" simply doesnt wash as every match is analysed to within an inch of its life. It gets utterly ridiculous if you then move to some alternate world where Rangers are the victims. -

You need to go back to my original point m9. That related to the number of times Rangers players have got away with red card offences on the field, ignored or not dealt properly by the ref, then given a retrospective...............which means nothing to the teams that you played on the day (in the example I gave, the consecutive matches v Hibs and St Johnstone). You are now in the ludicrous fantasy realms of "the onfield ref doesnt treat Rangers correctly" plus "the compliance officer doesnt look at the opposition fouls on Rangers players". The only clubs that benefit consistently from brutal refereeing decisions are Celtic and (recently, and a fucking lot) Rangers. -

Oh, so we are now in the realms of "Rangers dont get the on field decisions that others get"? Fucking hell. -

And which of these resulted in retrospective action by the compliance officer and a ban? -

Nah. I keep asking for examples of these incidents - just saying "every club commits them" or "there are countless similar incidents" doesnae really cut it. If you genuinely think that all other clubs get a free pass on this, feel free to link a few of these gazillions of incidents chaps....................... -

Not quite. It also points out that Rangers players committed offences on the park that went unpunished at the time..........which is kinda the theme of your thread. Benny and the other radges thinks this means Rangers are being victimised. These guys are beyond parody. -

Morelos and Roofe deserved to be red carded. That is a given. Its not "if" they offended, it's "when" they get huckled for it that is the main issue. -

You are deliberately missing the point that by benefitting from retrospective - as opposed to in game - action that Rangers have been given an advantage in both of the games I mentioned above. -

To bring this back on track.......... The initial question asked if Rangers were getting a free pass. Is there another team in the division where two consecutive matches have had episodes where players were deemed to commit red card challenges that the ref didnt deal with correctly? I cant remember that happening. Not a lot has changed since that Levein interview above, Rangers have always, and continue to get an easy ride from refs. It is really irritating, as they are a good team to watch and do not need the refs help - but they won 6 points in those matches v St Johnstone and Hibs while in both matches they should have been down to 10 men and the outcome may have been different. I look forward to Stormzys "heids gone" response. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55948694 -
Not entirely sure why Aberdeen fans are so down on this - a couple of recent results aside. These games often seem to be won in the midfield. Ours has been a bit pick n mix all season, and Aberdeen have a couple of excellent players there - Ferguson and Mcrorie - add in someone like McGeough and thats a tidy midfield out of which a goal or chances could easily come. And if Aberdeen score first, they are very good at shutting up shop. Despite your recent results, I dont expect this to be a foregone conclusion tbh. p.s. shame kamberi is out, was looking forward to booing him from my living room.

Pish, imo. We know that Aberdeen have had our number in the league for ages, but we dont really give a shiny one about Aberdeen (the place, the team, or the fans). But for some...............very, very odd...........reason, any Hibs loss seems to bring out the very worst in some Aberdeen fans like blockheid (and if I am honest, sometimes you) crawling all over Hibs threads to a level you just dont get from us warrior poets.

Aw man, Boyle was only demonstrated to be offside with about150 replays on sportscene - that is hardly contentious, and I wont even dignify the Porto one with a response. p.s. Barisic handled the ball in that match before we equalised - shit happens, some you win, some you lose. What is being discussed is your lot getting to play on when obvious shit has happened, win points and then "quelle surprise" being punished retrospectively. Thing is, you are the best team in the league...............you dont actually need the helping hand. -

Yep. Mcinnes record against Hibs (cups aside) has been exellent. While we have a couple of wins on the bounce, we are not in what I would call "good form".

Both of these would be rational explanations in a world where every premiership match was not covered and dissected to make them seem vaguely interesting on Sportscene. If there were so many non-Rangers offences that went unpunished during the match, the likes of Stewart and "Thommo" would pick them up for the edit. What actually tends to happen is that stamps like Morelos one on Porteous are punished at the time, discussed and we move on. You guys simply get more latitude from the match ref. -

I think its a disgrace that The Rangers are being singled out like this by the Celtic minded SFA. SNP / Papal conspiracy etc etc etc...............
