  1. To be honest, people just want a player who has a track record in this league and can give the fans a wee buzz. We have only signed one player this window that fits that category and that’s Todorov. Aye, the ‘weans’ will develop and could make us money in the long run but we want and need players that can make a difference now. The whole point about ‘don’t write him off yet’ is exactly the issue - he’s unknown and untested. We should at least be able to check if a new signing is decent. There’s no harm in wanting a bit of experience in the team or at least players who have had a go in the championship i.e Hancock…
  2. Simple fact is that we need more experience. If we were a regular championship team with a record of buying/selling young talent then fair enough but as of just now we are not. This year is about staying up and getting the players in to do it. Not signing 19 year olds from Dalbeattie star
  3. Another totally pointless signing(on paper)… Why not just save the wage and get someone more experienced in? I think we have enough weans now
  4. Airdrie 3 - 1 Inverness Ayr 0 - 2 Dundee Utd Dunfermline 2-1 Raith Morton 1-0 Arbroath Partick 1-1 Queens Park
  5. Stranger things have happened… Put off by his brother? I think you’ll find his brother had a grand time at Airdrie. Relegating you lot being a highlight I’d imagine
  6. Sorry to drop in… I would have been very surprised if Smith went to league one as it’s plain to see he’s beyond that level. That being said, I think Hamilton have a stronger team this year in league one that you did in the champ last year…
  7. A couple in recent years… Kyle Turner - His loan spell to us seemed to showcase how good he actually was/is. He ran games by himself and popped up with a few goals. Kerr McInroy - We only had him for half a season but he was immense in league 1. Scored multiple screamers and bullied many a team. Two players that have went onto bigger and better things for sure. Any diamonds fan would have both players back in an absolute heart beat.
  8. Standouts in the sense that they were the only two Patrick players who looked like they had played the game before
  9. Too right wee man. Those Partick boys have been taught a few lessons over the years…
  10. An entertaining afternoon. Great win today coming from behind. I thought we were the better team by far and played some great stuff. McMaster was a stand out for me. Really neat and clever on the ball. Gallagher should’ve had two goals in the first half but again he pops up at the right time with the winner. Partick looked very very average today but were ok in spells. Fitzpatrick and Graham were the standouts for me, quite direct. All in all, we deserved nothing less than 3 points. Onto the next one #FuckTheAirdrie
  11. Expecting a real step up in opposition today. Partick looked the business for 88 minutes last week. Saying that, we also looked decent in spells and if we can cut out that heart attack football that McCabe INSISTS on playing then we can get a result of some sort. Keep it tight today and take our chances you never know. Can’t wait for a triple signing at 2.30pm…
  12. Airdrie Fan TV have been absolutely brilliant over the past season! I just watched the clip from Tuesday’s session and think the boys behind the camera are doings a top job. Great to see so many young fans getting behind the team!
  13. You would hope… It appears to me that we’ve not really made any signings that would trump McCabe’s career and so wonder if this would come into play as he is still a player first and foremost
  14. Perhaps I should re-phrase… Would McCabe want to recruit someone with a better career than he? Wetherspoon has played in the top league for years and has played at senior international level. Would McCabe want that level of experience possibly conflicting with his ‘what I say goes’ regime?
  15. Realistically there’s a chance we’d get Smith. I’d hope that his brothers connection would encourage him to give us a go or maybe not… Wetherspoon is unfortunately way beyond us. I’d be very shocked if we had a remote chance of bringing him in. On that note, I wonder how McCabe would feel bringing in someone with more experience than he? You’d hope that professionals would see beyond ego but I don’t believe McCabe has brought in anyone older than him? Power dynamic anyone?
  16. Early days and all that but I’d been keen to hear how pars fans think we’ll cope this season. Given that we haven’t been in this league in donkeys and Dunfermline were only away briefly, can Airdrie stay up?
  17. Feeing a little more accepting of the defeat this morning. We showed in glimpses that we can compete at this level. I thought we were much more physical and willing to put a foot in more than last season which is a good sign. Thought Ballantyne was exceptional and didn’t put a foot wrong the entire game. Home on Saturday so let’s make it count
  18. I also agree with this. If the end result of passing it about at the back is a humph up the park then there’s no point in doing it
