  1. At one stage it almost felt like we'd never get there. Saturday's game might be odd, in league terms neither have anything to play for. Hopefully week after, Crossgates are still fighting for safety to add a competitive edge to that game and get us ready for the playoffs.
  2. Jeanfield 3 Musselburgh 2 What a cracking game... and a result that seals the title for Broxburn. Quite an even first half, but Jeanfield got themselves in front with a well taken headed goal. 2nd half was Musselburgh throwing everything they had at Jeanfield... only to get hit on the break and go 2-0 down. Musselburgh stuck at it and had a lot of the ball, eventually getting 1 back and then equalising with a fantastic free kick from about 25 yards. Musselburgh then added a 3rd, but the linesman flagged it for offside. All of Broxburn would like to thank that linesman as the striker looked well onside from where I was (almost in line with it). Musselburgh kept going... only to be caught short at the back again and a fine finish won it for Jeanfield.
  3. Speaking of which... was there anyone keeping a track this season on how the league table would have looked without B Teams? I remember someone did it last season (apologies, totally can't remember who). It's a nice wee kinda "look at what you could have had" picture.
  4. Directions may be handy!! I'll likely have to slink away from work a bit cheekily early for it Of course... we've no actually won our league quite yet! Just about limping to that finishing line, but lets no quite yet get carried away and jinx it!
  5. Ahhhh I've been looking out for when this fixture might be announced. Fancy trying to get down to this one... it's the way league seasons should climax!
  6. Congratulations to Hillfield Swifts winning their first ever cup tournament. Two well taken 1st half goals got them well ahead. A 2nd half penalty from Dunbar was just a consolation as they couldn't create enough clear cut chances against a well organised defence to get level. Decent game and a pretty healthy looking crowd in for it.
  7. Aha that makes more sense. Assuming it's max of 2 clubs per season or something? Vale are still on target to finish with a better points total than they had last season...
  8. What on earth is a promiscuous trialist??? Sounds like something advertised on Vivastreet!
  9. Thank goodness for Bob Watt! His save at end of the first half and 2 or 3 others in 2nd have earned us that point today. No doubt we are making sealing this title as difficult as we can, but edging closer to making it official! Jeanfield today were far better in the first half and we were fortunate they only scored the one. 2nd half was more even, but we were a little fortunate with the huge deflection for our equaliser.
  10. Most Fort William thing to happen to Highland League that doesn't involve Fort William...
  11. 100% I was at the game, but away from most of the support as usual, so didn't hear anything. If this is true(and no reason not to believe it) then I hope the club can identify them and get them banned.
  12. Literally just been studying the west league after tonights results. I think Beith have just about enough home games to get over the line, but if Auchinleck win it, then they are coming into a playoff full of momentum.
  13. What worries me more... if results at the weekend go our way and title is official... we then have two weeks of dead rubbers to take the foot of the gas... and then go into a playoff most likely against Dalbeattie Star who definitely will be up for it and not taking it lightly.
  14. Inverkeithing game should have been a lesson learned (even though it wasn't learned from the earlier league match with them) and that is what is so disappointing. The season, compared to last, has been phenomenal. And it is maybe harsh to overly criticise, but it had the potential to be so much more. Just been a lot of complacency creeping in, especially the last couple of months and last night at times it felt like we were trying to play an exhibition match.
  15. It's pretty shocking, really. That's two very winnable cup ties recently at home in two cups that we could have realistically aimed for winning. Fine, anyone can have an off day and be knocked out on the day, but it's the manner of both these defeats that sting.
  16. Spot on. I was on a long weekend trip in the Highlands, but made sure we left earlier than we usually would so that I could get to this game. I wanted to see us put one over on them after our last display against them and I wanted to see us progress through in a cup that we really had a great chance of winning... again putting it right after our last cup tie. But we got most of the first team on the bench and clearly management not prioritising this cup as never turned to them when we were struggling. The very rotated team and system had a lot of the ball, but did very little with it. Too many touches, too many passes, too often just slowing the play and not getting any shots away. Our goal was a deflected pass into the path of Downie for a massive deflected shot to take it past keeper. In contrast, the space we allowed Glenrothes at the back they took full advantage of. Bursting down wings, quick balls in making sure they got shots off and a couple of really decent finishes too. Well done to Glenrothes on a well deserved victory. Broxburn are just limping towards the end of the season, looking to just fall over the finishing line to win the league and put aside all else to get there.
  17. A tight first half today with not a lot between the sides, but then what a start to the 2nd half it was. Looked untouchable as raced into a 3 goal lead. The way it was going it looked like we could have more. But then, just back from suspension, Greg Page is sent off and just takes a little bit of the shine off a great win. He really makes it far too easy for refs to book him. Lads dug in well to see the game out. Dundonald got a phenomenal consolation with a freekick from about 25 yards... some hit. But it was too late to be of any concern. 3 points in the bag from a tough place to get points. Job done.
  18. A nice evening so took the short trip down to Pumpherston for their match with Livingston United tonight. A pretty bumpy pitch was a bit of a leveller that stopped the game from really flowing, but Pumph ran out 3-1 victors and on the balance were just about the better side in a match low on quality. Result just about keeps Pumph in the promotion race, while Livi stay bottom and still searching for a win which I'm sure must be their target for the season now.
  19. A great win over Dunbar last night, but best of all a much improved all round performance. Got away with one when Dunbar cracked what would have been a worldy off the bar just before the break when it was still 0-0. 2nd half we looked a bit more in control, but not creating too much until big Errol suddenly from almost nothing just flicked one in... well taken. After that we had a few good passages of play, but it wasn't until near the end that Jones smashed a shot from distance that was parried by the keeper nicely into the path of Miller to calmy pick a spot and head in before keeper could recover. Brilliant! And then we collapsed a bit, tried to hang on, Dunbar started to overrun us and got a goal back making it a very nervy last couple of minutes... but job done and a vital 3 points bagged. 4 games to go and 2 wins needed to guarantee the league...
  20. If Stoneyburn win all their games in hand (and looking at their schedule that is one absolutely massive "if"), then promotion is completely in their own hands...
