  1. Agreed. Even down to 10 men for majority of the game, there were still spells where they were the better side... Having now seen them, I'm a little surprised they are still pointless. Scoring seems to be a little bit of a problem for them just now and all their games look to have been tight encounters. Reckon if they can just get up and running with 3 points they'll relax a bit and push up the table a bit.
  2. Was at the Preston v Rosyth game today. A red card for Rosyth midway through the first half ensured it would be a tough day for them. A deserved red; bit of a scuffle between players and then a punch aimed in the direction of a Preston player. In fairness to Rosyth, they played well and had plenty of the ball and made a few chances, but two second half goals was too much for them to pull back! No neutral linesmen at the day... the Rosyth chap running the line on one side was himself nearly sent off and needed a stern word or two from the ref to calm down after giving the ref pelters at both goals for not blowing for offside! From my position, 1st goal looked onside.... 2nd looked tight!
  3. Bathgate got themselves up and running with a 3-0 win away to near neighbours Stoneyburn this evening. A deserved 3 points, but slightly flattered by the scoreline. The difference was one side took their chances while the other fluffed every chance they had! A nice sunny evening to enjoy a bit of a feisty derby match, complete with an obligatory sending off near the end.
  4. Also.... Tweedmouth were 4-0 up at half time! Something about a game of two halves...
  5. That was a definite "Get out of jail" for Broxburn. Twice! Would love to see possession stats as Broxburn had so much ball, but again just seems to be issues with creating chances despite all the possession! 100% effort from them though to keep going and get the very late goal to take it to extra time and then another late goal to take it to penalties. Kirkcaldy must be gutted they aren't through. Twice they just couldn't quite hold on when it looked like they were just about there. I wouldn't have begrudged them winning it either, they took their chances when they came and worked hard closing Broxburn down. Definitely impressed the way Broxburn just kept going. The definite downside is the number of injuries Broxburn picked up last night. Hopefully nothing to serious and hopefully most substitutions were precautionary... couple of key players had to go off and with a few tough away games coming up, could be a real setback to any hopes of improving on last seasons league position.
  6. Yeah I was at the UofS game too and that seems low. A few kids snuck in for free that might not be counted and maybe a few complimentaries for the day... but I'd have thought closer to and maybe a little over 300.
  7. Ahhh fair enough, from where I was it looked like the initial pass out was a little off, which caused it all to unfold. Keeper definitely made a decent effort to keep the final shot out, may have even got a touch on it? But it just seemed to swueeze past him. Either way it's 100% the sort of thing Broxburn need to address and cut out if they want to get a run together... I predict some work on playing out from the back and seeing games out in the next few training sessions!
  8. That's a very interesting interpretation.... And if correct, clearly a perfectly worked traing ground move from Broxburn!! Think if I was Blackburn, I'd be even more raging with that explanation...
  9. 1-1 draw in the Burn Derby Broxburn still look like the are bedding in the new signings which just left some of their play a little disjointed. Very fortunate Broxburn goal to take the lead... a clear handball in the build up that I think everyone except the officials saw! Still, play to the whistle and it was a good finish from the edge of the box. But if I was Blackburn, I'd be raging! Equaliser was sloppy. Poor underhit pass out from the Broxburn goalie which the Blackburn forwards were all over. Just as the defender got to it, striker tackled him which saw the ball ricochet off the woodwork. Just as it looked like Broxburn had got away with it, the man in support followed up and got just enough on a shot to squeeze past the keeper. Broxburn kept bombing up and down the wings with no reward, anything they got into the box was well dealt with by Blackburn defence. The one clear chance they made, just fell to the wrong man who smashed a shot against a defender... had it just gone more towards Errol Douglas, surely he'd have made sure. The big striker won a lot of ball, but was lacking in support which meant Broxburn never really got into an attacking stride. A silly red card for 2nd booking near the end for Gillan and Blackburn nearly took advantage, I think everyone thought they'd scored a last minute winner with a great turn and shot on the angle, but it went just wide. A draw was maybe just about right on the day as very little between the sides in what was a pretty entertaining match.
  10. Was really impressed by Penicuik last night. Went a man down... LTHV did their best to take advantage of it and knocked the ball around well, but Penicuik defended solidly and really never gave them any chances at goal. Thought the Penicuik captain was immense all game and won every ball on the air and drove forward getting them up the pitch a few times. The lad that came on and scored the winner looks a cracking player and had a few good touches to get away from players and also a bit of grit to win a few challenges. Really good start to the season from Penicuik... and grinding out last nights win in the way they did is how you go onto win leagues. Too early to be thinking about that yet, but they've got a solid foundation to kick on with!
  11. A draw was definitely a fair result, but the couple of chances Musselburgh had at the end, they musy be wondering how they never got the 3 points. Especially the effort off the line right at death! Two sides with a lot of new signings for the season... and it showed. Both had periods of good possession and knocked it about nicely interspersed with both giving the ball away quite cheaply. Both sides have strikers that are going to get plenty goals this season, but all the scoring last night came from lapses at the back. Two sides that definitely look like they'll improve as the season goes on and new signings gel together. Broxburn will be disappointed to have not seen it out at 2-1... you feel once the team settles 3 points like that will come. Similarly, Musselburgh probably can't believe they didn't snatch it at the end... again once their side settles down, that's something they can put right going forward. I think comfortably top half finishes for both... maybe just a little too much rebuilding for both in the summer to push for promotion this season... but still a lot of football before any silly predictions like that should be made! Onto the 'Burn derby at the weekend!
  12. I was at the game too and was a very enjoyable match. I think Tranent are a bit unlucky that their first match in the LL was against one of the stronger teams, so haven't really had the chance to adjust to the league. Just unfortunate timing/luck of the draw there. EK looked a very decent side... from watching them yesterday I'll be surprised if they end up falling behind any clear winner like last season. They reacted really well to going behind to a cracking goal. Tranent will do well. They are definitely going to create a lot of chances, maybe just lack an out and out goalscorer to put them away which hopefully won't hold you back too much. Can see Tranent easily finishing top 5 (not counting Colts sides) and if some momentum can be built and chances put away, there could be a league there for them to win. EK have definitely shown Tranent the standard needed for the better teams in the league... and on day one of the season, Tranent didn't look too far off that! Best of luck to both sides this season.
  13. Sorry if already been mentioned and I've missed this one... but when does the preliminary draw get made?
