  1. On today's showing, whoever comes into the job has a big job to clear out the high number of players that are just not up to it. And there are a lot. Absolutely awful 2nd half performance today with defending that was just lazy and half hearted for the 2 2nd half Blackburn goals. We looked dominant in the air today, but hard to tell if that is just because Blackburn aren't very blessed in that area. 2nd half, Blackburn kept the ball down and ran at the Broxburn defence who seemingly just can't tackle and have no concept of taking one for the team by giving away tactical fouls. Something very not right in the squad... a total lack of communication on a few occasions and very static looking. After a reasonable first half, that 2nd half is the most disheartened I've felt this season.
  2. Really good win tonight for Bo'ness... which has me asking, just why are you not further up the table??? Looked for good and very solid against a pacey team that you never allowed to get going. Thought the Uni side slightly edged the first half and created a few openings, but most actual shots were well dealt with by the BU goalie. Couple of 1 on 1s he spread himself really well. 2nd half, other than the goal conceded at the end, was just a thorough professional performance from Bo'ness. Kept the ball alive from a corner following a bit of a scramble to score the first. The 2nd was just a wonderful run and effort... brilliant goal. From that point, Bo'ness just soaked up all the Uni had and really should have hit them on the break a few times, but just lacked the final pass most times. BU ended the game looking fitter and stronger. Never let the Uni get into there stride through a combination of shit-housery, getting a challenge in on every pass forward/into the box and threatening to break themselves. Uni maybe slightly edged first half, but BU were far, far better in the 2nd. Play that way until the end of the season and you should have a good run in!
  3. Honestly not sure who I fancy for it. Who is even available that may be interested? Do we look for someone young with ambition that had some new ideas? Or do we find someone experienced that can steady things and be a quick, short term fix to some of the issues?
  4. I think he gets a little benefit of the doubt given the injuries... but yeah despite of that, this far into the season a solution could have been found and that managed better. The results, while not always great haven't been too much of the issue, but the performances. Too many flat and toothless ones. And that must come down to man management. He's had a good go at it... but it really hasn't worked out and this season just hasn't started.
  5. Think today was maybe just the result and performance that broke the camels back... but Broxburn now looking for a new manager.
  6. Today anyone that was there to see it got the proof that Broxburn are far behind Linlithgow in every department and however you measure it. The sole positive was the Broxburn goal. Good run/cross and well finished by big Errol. Other than that, 2nd best all day. Showed a bit of fight in the first half, but chasing shadows in the 2nd. 5-1 for Linlithgow and on top of that they hit the woodwork 3 times, so it could have been more. Really disappointing way to end the year
  7. Took in this one too. Cracking game. Couple of candidates for goal of the season. Some fiesty tackles. Good atmosphere with plenty banter from both sets of fans... and at the end... WHAT a miss!!!
  8. Well santa brought me a nice new Broxburn Athletic scarf... so seems I wasn't as naughty this year as I thought. It'll definitely get a wee outing on hogmanay! Merry Christmas to my fellow Badgers out there... hopefully santa also brings us a bit more consistency!
  9. A dreich night to be out... but out I went to Broadwood. Podcast FC losing 2-0 at home to East Stirling. OGB may have just slightly edged the first half, but it was pretty even and they went in 0-0. 2nd half and East Stirling suddenly looked a bit sharper and started to control the game. Ironically, tye more they took control, the more OGB lost their discipline which cost them the match. A lazy challenge gave East Stirling a penalty for the first. OGB went down to 10 men for just two stupid, but completely deserved yellow cards. The 2nd came near the end when the ES player out fought his marker out on the touchline and carried the ball directly into the box and finished well from an angle. OGB continued to try and knock the ball around, but was always just one pass too many or offside. East Stirling could have had more and had a couple of chances to add the 2nd well before they did. Decent crowd in to watch, but the visiting fans were clearly happy with what they saw singing all through the 2nd half.
  10. Oh I'd be tempted to watch them again if they guaranteed a similar show from him! I was standing right by their bench and he was tremendous value entertainment!
  11. Got myself down to Forresters Park this evening... my first Lowland League match for a wee while! Tranent Juniors 8-0 winners over Edinburgh Uni! Not the hard fought, close encounter I’d hoped! By the end it was a bit of a training match for Tranent... and the score was only really kept down by them being a bit wasteful! Uni started quite well, but extra pace, strength and quality of Tranent had them 2 up at half time. A 3rd goal about 20 seconds into the 2nd half completely killed off the Uni side... and at one stage the goals were coming so quick, the announcer couldn’t keep up! Comfortable evening for Tranent who can tick off this one as “job done” with the 3 points never really in doubt.
  12. An Edinburgh derby tonight! Or is it the "Boys Club" derby... Tynecastle v Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale at Meggetland... my first ever game in what is a very nice stadium. Imagine, an Edinburgh Council venue with a well designed and good sized stand. They should try that elsewhere... Turned out to be a pretty decent game. End to end. Both teams desperately looking for the win to try and pull away from the relegation zone. LTHV probably had slightly more of the game... but didn't take enough of their chances and Tynecastle ended the stronger of the teams nicked a 3-2 victory with a winner in the last 5 minutes. Decent entertainment for a chilly December evening.
  13. I'll accept a sciencey sounding explanation for the temperature... I'll take a blanket next time!
  14. I said all game, the wee no 9 had good feet and his pace caused Lochgelly all the problems... just his decision making was a bit slow... so yeah he should have had the goal scored long before the penalty awarded! He will be a cracking wee player once his brain catches up to his feet!
  15. Due to a lack of options, I took in this game today! 3-0 victory for the students who were far better in the 1st half and helped out by a very debatable penalty for their 2nd. I reckon no, my mate reckoned aye! Lochore were better in 2nd half, but the game was gone by then and the sides mostly cancelled each other out. But my goodness.... that is a coooooollld venue!!! My first ever indoor match and I don't think I've ever been colder. My poor joints!

  17. I was at that one... pretty sure all supporters were in the stand that night. Cowdenbeath hadn't won a game at Central Park all season but went 2-0 up... panic amongst the small band of Thistle fans, but a couple of goals sorted it out! An icey, snowy, foggy freezing Wednesday (or Tuesday) night in January some time in the early 90s...
  18. Update this morning on Broxburn fb page.... Match today is off... best for all to stay wrapped up at home
  19. Just seen an update that Broxburn today is off! Overnight snowfall
  20. Two teams do already look gone and there are currently 6 other teams below us in the running for the 3rd relegation spot. I can't see ALL of them overtaking Broxburn...
  21. I thought a few weeks back the team had turned a corner and there were some improved performances and results were mostly positive, but last few weeks it all seems to have nosedived again. Wasn't able to make today's game... apparently there is some large festivity coming soon meaning I had to go into town... but I'm going to assume it was a fairly flat and inconsistent performance?
  22. Marvellous! Cheers lad! The free kick that came back of the bar definitely needs another viewing too!
  23. Really good win tonight for Armadale against Bathgate. 5-1 in the end, but Bathgate really made them work for it until they just kinda ran out of steam in the last 20 or so minutes. When it was still 1-1, Bathgate had two great chances to take the lead, but put both wide. Armadale took their chances... and once in front didn't look back. 5-1 was a bit harsh on Bathgate for the effort they put in... really not much difference between the sides for the first hour. Two cracking first half goals too... I saw the game was being recorded, be nice to see them uploaded!
  24. Surely the bbc will pick Linlithgow v Raith? Slightly more chance of there being an upset... and that's what they want to get on camera. Both Darvel and Linlithow deserve to have their games shown!
