  1. Ahhhh fair enough, really wasn't sure what sort of set up they had! But really, almost any option would be better than Meadowbank, if anyone was looking for a lodger and willing to work with them for any required improvements.
  2. Took in today's top of table clash between Newtongrange and Whitburn today. Comfortable 4-1 win for Star... scoreline maybe slightly flatters them, but it was a deserved win to take them top of the table. Whitburn missed a couple of early chances, one of which was glorious and a bad miss by the striker. It came back to bite them as Star went 2 up at the break and made it 3 early in the 2nd half. Soon after the 3rd, Whitburn got their goal and then pushed to get another which just never came, eventually being hit on the break as Star added a 4th. With scoring complete, Whitburn went down to 10 men for a silly foul by Chris Hughes... a frustrated lunge from behind. Decent entertainment given the horrendous weather.
  3. Still no official statement from the club... which after 3 days is quite poor. They should be making it as clear as the can now news is out. Don't think anyone actually puts much blame for the scenario at the current regime... the previous regime alienated fans (revenue streams) with the ludicrously pointless name change, spent silly money boosting the squad and agreed to the Meadowbank return... which can barely be called a stadium. To undo all 3 of these poor decisions (name sorted, but still seems some bad feeling around that) might be too big an ask to save the club. Players can be sold/released and replaced with youths, frees and loans... but the "stadium"! And as pointed above, where is there to go that has or could get a licence? Myreside - would Watsonians want some rental income? It has floodlights... and believe pitch is enclosed by a fence. Mini Murrayfield? Either of the rugby grounds up Goldenacre way? Not sure their suitability. But for me, as a neutral, while I definitely don't want to see ECFC go to the wall, I have no intention of going to see them at that location.
  4. Ahhh. Not good... goes back to what someone mentioned earlier about lack of depth. I'm sure Levein is looking ahead to January to bolster the squad
  5. Treated myself to a daytrip to Perth to take in this as a neutral. Thought Saints knocked the ball around pretty well, but without any end result. Buddies had much less ball, but moved it forward quicker to get it in the box and create chances. Both sides really need a striker. Or two. That can shoot! A definite stealing of 3 points, but I was sitting in the home end, so made for a good end! For Saints, I thought Phillips, Smith and in 2nd half, Carey all look decent on the ball and have something to offer... find someone up top they can play off/to and might create a lot more.
  6. This completely. It was just baffling! Long ball to him... pulls it down with an excellent first touch, then his turn to knock the ball towards the goal area just took 2 defenders out the game.... and then he just throws himself to the ground! No doubt he is a Bonnyrigg legend for his Lowland League and play-off goals to get them to this level... but it's time to part ways with him. Bonnyrigg looked a pretty decent organised side. Defence is decent, strong and competitive, the midfield can shift the ball around and they did have a couple of nice touches in that area.... but then the ball goes forward and it just falls apart for them!
  7. Lack of games today meant I was at this as a neutral too. Your assessment is 100% accurate!
  8. Lochgelly v Livi Utd also bites the dust! Well... snow...
  9. Aye... everyone knew and really was just waiting for the announcement!
  10. Broxburn... 3-1 down with 5 minutes to play... and got the victory! Great way to get over the last minute heartache from the weekend. Bo'ness, not unexpectedly, are a very good side. The boy on the wing, Kangi-Soukpe is some player... whoever Stirling Albion have that's keeping him out their side must be seriously gifted! He was the outball and everything Bo'ness created went through him. When he was subbed off, Broxburn managed to get more of the ball, a couple of attacking substitutions later and it was all Broxburn who somehow got the 3 late goals. Tremendous entertainment and value for money. Great result to put the weekend behind them, especially with the way it ended. All the best to Bo'ness Athletic for the rest of their season.
  11. 100% on that... really this season was all about putting together a team for a better run in the league and maybe a run in a couple of cups. Credit to committee, players and management, it's turned into a so far incredible league campaign and runs in all the cups. Buckie were a very good side... and it's clear to see why they are consistently pushing for the HL title. Very fit, very well organised and they can knock the ball around pretty well and although the twice cut it very fine, they managed the game very well and with 10 men really limited Broxburn's chances. On another day, Broxburn maybe score again from one of their breakaways once Buckie had to chase the game, or they hold on and get a bit more distance on their clearances... but when Buckie threw the kitchen sink at it and had to gamble, you could see why their Goals For column is pretty impressive. I'm sure Vale likely have many similar tales from over the years!
  12. Buckie went down to 10 about 25 mins in... silly challenge from a guy already on a booking. Broxburn finally scored with about 10 minutes to go, tried to park the bus and see the game out... the ref found a ludicrous amount of stoppage time and Buckie equalised in the 98th minute. Broxburn scored with 2 minutes left of extra time... great hit from free kick. Immediately resorted again to trying to see the game out... and Buckie equalised in stoppage time... Onto penalties and Buckie had the winning lottery ticket for that! Game was overall short of quality, but high on drama. Decent crowd in too... hope most of them return to keep backing the team.
  13. Looking forward to this one... easily gonna be our toughest match of the competition so far... they are clearly a better side than the other Highland sides we've played. I get it's a long trip, things are more expensive these days and Broxburn isn't a glamour location (a few probably haven't heard of it) but I still reckon they'll have a solid couple of hundred there... a few highlanders living in the central belt area will show face!
  14. First time I saw him at CH, just as he gets that bit more time on the ball, could really see his quality - was pinging crossfield balls accurately all over the place. But I always feel a bit more confident going into a game if I see him starting up front.
  15. 2 goals for him today! Been unlucky with a few niggling wee injuries this season and often played out of position last season out of necessity! But when he gets a run of games up front, he is excellent, a proper handful for defences and on his day he can make it look quite easy.
  16. Tremendous result and performance today. No doubt Auchinleck are in a bit of transition, but had been on a really good run recently. But Broxburn dominated the play, really kept them at arms length and scored 3 great goals. Game was over at 2-0 when they went a man down for a silly challenge. After third goal went in, Broxburn dropped to 2nd gear, kept the ball well and just managed the game to the end. Everyone turned up and performed today.
  17. In fairness... this season they were doing pretty well before the holiday too I'm no such a curse this season!! The missus is definitely missing her pies, though!
  18. Quite incredible going from beating Beith in the big Scottish, to then losing against Gretna! Wonder if they've downplayed this one after last week... or if just one of those days
  19. My first trip to Camelon in over 20 years... and what an excellent set up it's become. It's a proper small football ground and has been done really well. The pitch looked great, the pies were excellent and the amount of sponsorship boards around the pitch means whoever is selling the product is doing a great job! Only complaint... could turn the floodlights down a bit... got dazzled every time the ball went over to a far side corner! But a well done to all at the club, I was really impressed and easily one of thd better grounds in the East Region.
  20. Berwick got a bit of a scare tonight and had to dig in to get over the line, but just about deserved to win. Camelon missed a glorious chance to go in front when 1 on 1 with the keeper, the young winger kind of tamely misfired wide... then just a couple of minutes later Berwick were in front. A 2nd near the end of the half when a magnificent free kick effort came back of the bar and dropped for a tap in. Then a 3rd was gifted to them a minute later as a misplaced pass went straight to Berwick striker and the keeper was in two minds whether to come out or not... was well finished, though. 3-0 at halftime and game over.... except Camelon scored a wonderful goal right at the start of the 2nd half to get their tails up. Berwick mostly kept them at arms length, but near the end Camelon managed to break away and get another to give the game a heck of a finish, but Berwick defended well enough to limit Camelon chances... Very good game all round.
  21. No one has lived until they've tried one of these pies! Me and the wife savour one (at least) each every week. Glad you guys enjoyed getting along... plenty of action to keep it an interesting game!
  22. The ref totally handled it badly. Hope the lad is ok... looked pretty uncomfortable as he went off. Ref let play go on far too long, and without looking at the passage of play stopped it right as they took the shot... then handed the ball back too them to restart. It was infuriating! But as you say, not costly... the lads had done enough earlier. Phew!
  23. Stirling Uni 3, Bo'ness Utd 1 A massive helping hand from the Bo'ness keeper gave Uni a lifeline today from being 1 down to get 2-1 up.... a penalty courtesy of goalkeeping madness and a great strike while BU got over the equaliser. A fine penalty save to stop it going 2-2 and as BU pushed forward, Uni killed the game with a 3rd after breaking away. Still a long way from the excellent side they had last season, but starting to get going now and had a lot of energy in the midfield which broke up anything BU tried to start.
  24. A free Sunday so got along to this one. Fairly even first half and while the Uni front two were a handful, the BU defence were just about coping. Lazy challenge in the box gave BU a penalty and got in front. Never really looked too troubled, yes the defence had to work hard and concentrate to deal with the Uni attack... but they were dealing with it. And then the goalie had his little moment... and the game changed. Scored the resulting penalty to equalise, clearly knocked BU off their game and gave Uni a lift and soon after a well taken strike and it was 2-1. BU changed things up and got back onto their game, but with a lead to defend, Uni midfield 3 just gave them no time, shut down everything and looked to get going on the break and as BU got more desperate, especially after the penalty miss and pushed men forward, that's where the 3rd came from. If Uni never got their penalty... but the whole season is full of What-if's Shout out to the enthusiastic Uni fan... he had a great day!
