  1. Any word who the trialist was that played on Saturday? Had a fairly decent game.
  2. This is the bit that annoys me so much. No press release, no justification, no pointing out something we can't see.... just a secret vote, silence and never speak about it.
  3. That's fair comment... they have traditionally voted "poorly"... last season they had a different regime in charge, so maybe now that circus is over, the guys in charge have rethought their place... thought no need for any circuses. So this vote could be the beginning of their redemption arc! But definitely worth congratulating them on eventually getting to a right choice. Positive reinforcement and all that!
  4. Is it definite that Broomhill are the other good guys? Not seeing anything on their social media about their stance.
  5. Just so gutted at this! Really thought this might finally be the vote that got them punted... but for whatever reason, some sides that have previously voted against the B team inclusion have voted in favour this time... and swung it. With Gretna abstaining, it just needed 1 more to vote against... so close. But so let down by 8 clubs. Well done to the 7 good guys, hopefully the 7th one becomes clear soon.
  6. Think Sauchie might just have too much to do... they had quite a disastrous start to the season, but they have probably been our toughest game... they battered Broxburn for about 80 minutes, but somehow we got out with a draw. Haddington fan might not want to admit it... but Musselburgh aren't out of things yet, especially if they get the points from the games in hand. From a Broxburn point of view, as tremendous as our season has been so far, we aren't actually pulling clear. Jeanfield have done very well staying with us. Once all games catch up, it could well be one heck of an end to the season!
  7. So confirmed good guys... Albion Rovers Berwick Rangers East Stirling Tranent Linlithgow Rose Bo'ness United And one other... Edin Uni would be the guess? And someone abstained...? Any ideas who?
  8. Yep... went to an indoor game around this time last year. Most other games were frozen off... the indoor oriam was available so their game was on. Freezing venue!
  9. Got down to Berwick for the Tweedmouth v Dalkeith game today! Was a pretty slow match to get going, but once it did, it saw a couple of very good goals. If you didn't know which side was which, but knew one was 3rd and the other bottom, you'd easily pick Tweedmouth as pushing for promotion with Dalkeith struggling. Over the 90 minutes, Dalkeith were poor. 2nd half especially, Tweedmouth were far better, scored a cracking goal to go 2-1 ahead early in the 2nd half and never looked back, thoroughly deserving the 3 points. That win lifts them out the relegation places and if today is close to their recent form, they look like they'll be safe.
  10. It was nice to get back to Albyn Park and to league action. And to action in general with all the recent postponements! Unfortunately, the conditions were a bit windy... and both teams seemed to think the best tactic for the weather were a series of high balls! That said, it wasn't all that bad a game. Broxburn had a great early chance well saved and Bob Watt really kept us in the game with a great save diving down at the strikers feet to gather the ball. 2nd half Broxburn got the ball into the Haddington box lots... but it never really ever fell to anyone to be a chance. Haddington went down to 10 men for a compete IQ failure 2nd booking... already on a yellow and not moving away for a free kick! But with extra man, still couldn't make any clear chances, so 0-0 it finished. And the first ever 0-0 the wife has seen! Bonuses... another clean sheet. Other results went in our favour, so actually extended our lead in the table!
  11. "Treated" the wife to a trip along to this one. As far as cages go, it's not too bad a wee set up... our only real grumble is everything being on one side! Any plans to open up more of the ground (it was dark so not sure how it works space-wise) The area behind the goal where changing rooms are... room for a standing enclosure? And down the opposite touchline any space? What you have was absolutely fine for a game like last nights... but as the club progresses, may be bigger matches that needs more room. And of course, on cold nights like last night, it's good to be able to wander! Best of luck, though... hope you are enjoying first season in Premier.
  12. Took this one in and pretty fair summary. First half was quite even and both sides played some nice stuff. Beith unlucky not to go 2-1 up at the break when Monk smashed the post with a great hit. Although Gartcairn were a bit fortunate to be level with their equaliser. Huge call from ref to give Beith free kick for handball just as Gartcairn were about to roll ball into the net to go 2-1 up... Beith keeper played ball straight to the striker, but ref reckoned he used hand to control it... I wasn't so sure about that. Then from the free kick, having just given Beith a big decision, ref totally bottled at as it looked a clear penalty to Beith after what looked a pretty clumsy challenge in the box. 2nd half and Beith were well on top and the winning goal when it came was well worked and well finished. Not the worst way to spend a Wednesday night!
  13. Ahhhh fair enough, really wasn't sure what sort of set up they had! But really, almost any option would be better than Meadowbank, if anyone was looking for a lodger and willing to work with them for any required improvements.
  14. Took in today's top of table clash between Newtongrange and Whitburn today. Comfortable 4-1 win for Star... scoreline maybe slightly flatters them, but it was a deserved win to take them top of the table. Whitburn missed a couple of early chances, one of which was glorious and a bad miss by the striker. It came back to bite them as Star went 2 up at the break and made it 3 early in the 2nd half. Soon after the 3rd, Whitburn got their goal and then pushed to get another which just never came, eventually being hit on the break as Star added a 4th. With scoring complete, Whitburn went down to 10 men for a silly foul by Chris Hughes... a frustrated lunge from behind. Decent entertainment given the horrendous weather.
  15. Still no official statement from the club... which after 3 days is quite poor. They should be making it as clear as the can now news is out. Don't think anyone actually puts much blame for the scenario at the current regime... the previous regime alienated fans (revenue streams) with the ludicrously pointless name change, spent silly money boosting the squad and agreed to the Meadowbank return... which can barely be called a stadium. To undo all 3 of these poor decisions (name sorted, but still seems some bad feeling around that) might be too big an ask to save the club. Players can be sold/released and replaced with youths, frees and loans... but the "stadium"! And as pointed above, where is there to go that has or could get a licence? Myreside - would Watsonians want some rental income? It has floodlights... and believe pitch is enclosed by a fence. Mini Murrayfield? Either of the rugby grounds up Goldenacre way? Not sure their suitability. But for me, as a neutral, while I definitely don't want to see ECFC go to the wall, I have no intention of going to see them at that location.
  16. Ahhh. Not good... goes back to what someone mentioned earlier about lack of depth. I'm sure Levein is looking ahead to January to bolster the squad
  17. Treated myself to a daytrip to Perth to take in this as a neutral. Thought Saints knocked the ball around pretty well, but without any end result. Buddies had much less ball, but moved it forward quicker to get it in the box and create chances. Both sides really need a striker. Or two. That can shoot! A definite stealing of 3 points, but I was sitting in the home end, so made for a good end! For Saints, I thought Phillips, Smith and in 2nd half, Carey all look decent on the ball and have something to offer... find someone up top they can play off/to and might create a lot more.
  18. This completely. It was just baffling! Long ball to him... pulls it down with an excellent first touch, then his turn to knock the ball towards the goal area just took 2 defenders out the game.... and then he just throws himself to the ground! No doubt he is a Bonnyrigg legend for his Lowland League and play-off goals to get them to this level... but it's time to part ways with him. Bonnyrigg looked a pretty decent organised side. Defence is decent, strong and competitive, the midfield can shift the ball around and they did have a couple of nice touches in that area.... but then the ball goes forward and it just falls apart for them!
  19. Lack of games today meant I was at this as a neutral too. Your assessment is 100% accurate!
  20. Lochgelly v Livi Utd also bites the dust! Well... snow...
  21. Aye... everyone knew and really was just waiting for the announcement!
  22. Broxburn... 3-1 down with 5 minutes to play... and got the victory! Great way to get over the last minute heartache from the weekend. Bo'ness, not unexpectedly, are a very good side. The boy on the wing, Kangi-Soukpe is some player... whoever Stirling Albion have that's keeping him out their side must be seriously gifted! He was the outball and everything Bo'ness created went through him. When he was subbed off, Broxburn managed to get more of the ball, a couple of attacking substitutions later and it was all Broxburn who somehow got the 3 late goals. Tremendous entertainment and value for money. Great result to put the weekend behind them, especially with the way it ended. All the best to Bo'ness Athletic for the rest of their season.
  23. 100% on that... really this season was all about putting together a team for a better run in the league and maybe a run in a couple of cups. Credit to committee, players and management, it's turned into a so far incredible league campaign and runs in all the cups. Buckie were a very good side... and it's clear to see why they are consistently pushing for the HL title. Very fit, very well organised and they can knock the ball around pretty well and although the twice cut it very fine, they managed the game very well and with 10 men really limited Broxburn's chances. On another day, Broxburn maybe score again from one of their breakaways once Buckie had to chase the game, or they hold on and get a bit more distance on their clearances... but when Buckie threw the kitchen sink at it and had to gamble, you could see why their Goals For column is pretty impressive. I'm sure Vale likely have many similar tales from over the years!
