  1. Nah, the reason you have the joint fewest goals against is down to Lang and Henderson's injuries and Donaldson's sending off!
  2. Season only ended on Saturday, have you forgotten what he looks like already?
  3. I remember that you narrowed the pitch a few years ago, so maybe some folk have that in the back of their minds when thinking about your pitch?
  4. Well, that's just a lot of shite isn't it. If you'd actually taken the trouble to read what I wrote, you would know that.
  5. Some Accies fans remind me of a lot of Falkirk fans when we first came down. Some thinking we should only need to turn up to win because we were full time with the biggest budget blah, blah, then turning on the team when that didn't happen which, in turn, just created a more poisonous atmosphere. In reality, we were a L1 team at that point because we failed to stay up and it was obvious that a lot of hard work was going to be needed to turn us around. Rankin has them finishing on 74 points which we didn't get anywhere near previously, their biggest 'failure' being that they only managed to scrape one point from a fantastic Falkirk side. It's unusual for a team to be so dominant over the course of a season and Accies would have been much closer to winning the thing in a 'normal' season. I get that they don't like his style of play, tactics etc but they have no given right to win and, TBH, they really need to be a bit more humble because they're a wee team who have been punching way above their weight for many years now!
  6. I think Mackie's strength lies in the fact that he can 'adequately' cover two positions, which is important when money is tight. On that basis I wouldn't be against him re-signing. Re the 3 players that we have put offers to, I can't see how one of them can be Tait? He has another year at Hibs, so any offer would need to be to them, not the player and I don't think that they'll be thinking about loaning players out until the season's over and they know who they're going to release and who they want to keep. Also their BOD may not even have decided whether they're going to keep the manager or not.
  7. I'm kinda in two minds about it. It's a chance for my wee team to make history and is something I'll have no chance of seeing again in my lifetime, so, aye, I'll be disappointed if it doesn't happen. However, we've won the league at a canter, playing some fantastic football, so that should be recognised tomorrow, win lose or draw. My main fear is that some of the usual suspects will appear to pick everything apart and get on the players backs at the match. That absolutely shouldn't happen, the team should be applauded whatever happens!
  8. The cage! That's where I started as well in 1968.
  9. Possibly the same game that I attended? Ranjurs were, as usual, getting all of the decisions from the ref, then, when he finally blew for a foul for us, I shouted a sarcastic 'Oh Hello' and, I kid you not, about 3 dozen folk standing around me started singing the Billy Boys!
  10. I'm assuming that there will be a full section empty between home and away fans? According to the Alloa site, they've sold 56 tickets. Edit to say that I'm not having a go at Alloa here, it states on their site that tickets will be sold up until kick-off, so I would think there will be a few more in there.
  11. Not sure why McInnes or Docherty should be considered any more than, say, Naismith or Robinson? Also, as much as it pains me to say it, if Sevco win the treble, then it would be hard to argue against Clement being on the short list. If, however, a manager manages to have his team absolutely skoosh the league, while remaining unbeaten and beating teams from the league above (including said champions of that league) then the winner should be fairly obvious.
  12. You'll know better than me, but is a player not deemed to be offside when trying to get to the ball, whether they touch it or not? Maybe that used to be the case and it's been changed since. Wouldn't be surprised as the rules seem to be changed every 5 minutes!
  13. Really difficult decision for McGlynn to make next week re the defence. McGinn would probably be the best option IF he was fully fit, however I don't see him lasting a full 90 minutes. Does he therefore start with Bisland and bring McGinn on if necessary, hoping that Bisland is up to it and we don't concede too early? Or does he pull MacIver back into defence? Personally, I think I'd start with Bisland with my fingers crossed! The other decision he's got is whether he starts Long or Hogarth. If we hadn't lost Donaldson and Henderson it would have been easy to play Long to let him say goodbye with one last performance, however, with such a make-shift defence I would prefer Hogarth for some continuity in defence.
  14. Just watched the highlights and a few things struck me: The Annan 'defending' for our first was dreadful, our third looked offside because Miller (I think) tried to head the ball while standing on the line and it's virtually impossible to tell if the 2nd penalty was legit or not. The first penalty was as blatant as you're likely to see however. Very proud of the fact though that the guys can come up with such a battling performance when all of the circumstances are taken into account. Well done Falkirk!
  15. Good chance that we could have 4 full backs as our defence next week. Not sure that I'd want MacIver playing at the back? He'd be good in the air obviously, but he looks like his concentration can waver a bit at times for me.
  16. Don't agree. It would be up to the ref to decide whether a player meant to injure an opponent not the player.
  17. Given the circumstances I thought we did pretty well yesterday and I'm certain we would have won had Donaldson stayed on. Nesbitt was far and away the best man on the park and fully deserved his MOTM award IMO. If I have any criticism at all it's that, defensively, we played very narrowly following the dismissal and Kelty made very good use of the width of the pitch. Also, I felt that the best chance of us grabbing a winner was keeping the MacIver and Morrison combo on as Ross was winning a fair few headers with Morrison benefitting and looking dangerous. Having said that, Alfie did just as well when he came on, but I would definitely have kept MacIver on to partner him. I said a few months ago that we could be in trouble if we lost Donaldson and Lang, thankfully that's only going to be for 2 and 3/4 games, but it will be a big ask to have only one player in the defence playing in their true position over the final two games. We really need the forward players to turn up over these games so that any defensive mishaps may not prove too costly. To an extent I'm also with Shodwall re his take on players' punishment. I've long thought that players being booked or sent off for totally accidental incidents is unfair. The issue there though would be that refs would have to make the call as to whether an incident was meant or not and no doubt we would have players trying to make a deliberate act look innocent.
  18. Maybe it's just me, but I felt that the sending off affected our performance yesterday.
  19. I'd like Annan to beat Embra and Stirling to beat QOtS. Not that I've anything against Queens, just that it would make it really interesting at the bottom.
  20. I think it likely that a centre forward that was instrumental in Morrison, Nesbitt and Miller scoring 40 odd? goals, whilst also knocking in 20-30 himself wouldn't be playing for Falkirk.
