Wouldn't be surprised if he's spoken to the likes of Arnott and decided to stay where he is. Wouldn't imagine he'd get any game time with all the midfielders we still have signed, albeit if hes that good he could've been loaned back to EK, it's the daily ranger though so I wouldn't read too much into the story
Irosshed and I was wrong
If we sign Hanlon maybe Euan Murray is the one to depart if any interested parties want to take on his contract.

Why? We can't run with two senior, specialist CBs. Corr isn't good enough to be starting week in, week out and we've already had a season of folk moanng about Brown and Dick's shortcomings as auxiliary CBs.

Imagine he's in the Hannah/Arnott/Masson mould. Huge jump from LL to even League 2 nevermind the Championship - he'd have been one eye on development. I don't think it's a bad decision from a young lad to focus on playing games.

Just playing Fitba Manager on the salaries me ol' China. Can't imagine any of Fordyce, Murray, Hanlon, Stevenson or Dick are going to be happy 'riding the pine'. We were pish at the back most of the season, granted we had injuries but if we got an offer for Murray to take on his contract I'd not be surprised if they took it.

We need four centre backs so hope Corr signs too, can’t see Ashcroft coming now if Hanlon signs or the need for him if Corr signs . Just depends if Corr is willing to bide his time again this season or not.

I can't imagine Hanlon is cheap, but I also don't think the club will have decided to spunk cash on him with the idea he'll be fit and available for a whole season. Centre backs get injured, they pick up suspensions, on average and at our level they tend to be older. CB availability has to be one of the real limiting factors on how a team performs. If we are looking to progress it has to be done with a squad where you can slot someone in without lowering the overall ability. That's real depth - not sending in someone like Corr or Masson and then adapting how you play to keep the pressure off them. 3 CBs who can start a game is a hard requirement.

raith1974
Apparently David Gray has been offered the Hibs job and is going to accept.
CALDERON
If that's true, we've improved 3 out of the back 4 within 2 weeks of the season finishing, which is encouraging.
Specky Ginger
On a much sadder note, David Thomson (one of the scorers in the 6-0 v the Pars on NYD 1983) has passed away aged 65. RIP.

grumswall
Like we had in the midfield/ forward positions this season, competition is key for defence. Having 3/4 cbs all wanting to and more importantly being good enough to start every week isn't going to be easy to manage, but it's probably a better headache for Murray to have than having none available, than having to put brown to cb. Hanlon Fordyce and Murray would be a very good trio to have. I do think it would probably mean corr would be the one moved on though as dick offers the versatility. All depends on what's happening with the negotiations for those two though. Corr needs regular football now to develop so if we do sign him, if be hoping he's put out on loan for the first half of the season to get that.

pub car king
If Corr were to stay he would be training next to better defensive players than he has this season. Also Fordyce has coaching experience which should benefit his development. If Dick stays as well then Corr can go on loan and get league experience. If we deal with him properly and invest in his development he could be a very good young CB and those don't grow on trees.
RAITHROVERS84
Looking at some of the squad - Fordyce, Stevenson, Hanlon, Murray, Stanton, Vaughan, Easton, Matthews , Smith, Connolly, Mullin and Scott Brown. Can’t be bothered to work it out but the average age of the team is far higher than 2 seasons back. Looks really talented and experienced to me.

I just came out in a cold sweat reading that. Flashbacks to when we signed an unfit and completely finished Skacel on crazy wages and our CEO at the time justified it by saying that loads of Hearts fans would come to watch us when they were playing on a Sunday .
