CountryBumpkin
These things take time, we never had a definite candidate lined up at all, we knew what sort of person we wanted and that they had to fit into the structure we've got here, which includes a pre-existing backroom staff of assistant, goalkeeping coach and fitness coach as well as working with a Technical Director in Potter. From that we probably identified a few candidates that fit what we're looking for. A coach first and foremost, a trainer, someone who wants to bring new ideas and someone who fits in with our structure on player recruitment and existing hierarchy. Then we need to make approaches to the clubs for these people, interview them, perhaps interview again or god forbid, have them present the "vision" (felt sick writing that) and then make a decision, negotiate with the candidate around their requirements and agree compensation with the current club. That all takes time and probably doesn't happen on gamedays or on the build up to a game.

Brashy's Boots
1 hour ago, Jilted John said: Radio Scotland stated after Barrowman’s interview that O’Dea and O’carroll had both been approached and turned the opportunity down. That was also mention in a couple of newspapers. Leven was interviewed last week and was offered the job at the end of the week. I know that part to be true as it came from a very reliable source. Ah. So we DON'T know 3 people have turned us down. Even if Peter Leven was interviewed on Friday, had been offered and had accepted, we'd likely still be working on release terms etc before announcing this week.
AllanJM
Like everyone, I would like an announcement of the new (and hopefully decent) manager ASAP. However, it would be worth the board waiting a few more days to announce it just to see how far the meltdown among our supporters on here goes. Some posters I would normally consider to be pretty level headed seem to have lost it (some may be on the wind up of course). I will probably be joining them if Liam Fox gets the job!!!!
Michael W
Sacking a manager that was under no pressure from the fans and, dare I say, was actually very popular, won't buy patience from the fans. It's much easier when the previous manager has been unpopular and the cries for him to go are several weeks old. The shock nature of it gave the impression that perhaps something had been lined up, which doesn't appear to be the case. Add the McBookie list of doom into the equation and you can see why people are led to despair.
Raith Against The Machine
Is there any chance that it's Liam Fox the former Defence Minister? Or even an actual fox who's just called Liam?

Jilted John
I’m gonna stick my neck on the line and say our current board wouldn’t be silly enough to give it to a proven failure like Liam Fox. Although I don’t particularly agree with their decision on Murray, they haven’t got much wrong so far.
Arthur Reid McDermott
I'm with you 100% JJ. I'm also with HRR on his preferred first choice of "The Fox". At least it would be a new brush that would sweep clean? (OK. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry) Edited August 14 by Arthur Reid McDermott

Broken Algorithms
Fox would see Gary Locke levels of backlash. It's one where you can read the reaction in the room a mile off. Don't even bother bringing it to the table or trying up justify it with "he's a great coach". There are some people who you simply don't touch and he is one of them.
