I was sitting high centre in the stands on Saturday and heard a group of folk talking about this Tony Dingwall guy, never heard of him but then throughout the week it’s becoming more and more noticeable that he might sign.

Crazy how much the fans know before the media, anyone know why this is?

The media largely don't give a f**k? Pie and Bovril is probably the best aggregator for Scottish football news there is.

Can't report anything until it's firmed up really, fans can throw names about no bother at all, there's usually elements of truth to most rumours so some usually come to fruition

Kris Boyd to Celtic was the pinnacle of bamming up lazy journos.

Anybody that are seriously suggesting the return of Laidlaw need to cast their minds back to the 3-3 game at Starks against Cowden. The game where Cowden fans started referring to him as Laidlol.

He was directly at fault for all 3 goals that game

Wasn’t the only game but it’s the one that sticks in the memory for me.

Absolute clusterfuck of a goalkeeper.

All three goals. I thought it was just the late Cowden equaliser he was at fault for in that game. That’s the only one that I can remember anyway.

I went back and read the match report and it seems you are correct.

We’ve signed a young (18) centre half, Liam McDaid. So one for the future, possible pairing of him & McKay?
Buzzing for any first time news now, c’mon! A Ray MAC esque unbeaten run from now until May will do the job 🤞🏻

I've just watched the video.

First goal - fails to hold what should've been a fairly straightforward shot.
Second goal - concedes a needless penalty by diving in for no reason. If I'm being extra harsh, he should probably save the resultant penalty.
Third goal - fails to claim a low ball across the box and the ball is bundled into the net.

It's possible he has improved from his experience with Hibs. If not, we're better off with Thomson really.

Nae/New manager
Shite Form
Away from home
Derby

3 reasons why we will win. Buzzing for the Big Fife Derby.
Raith Rovers 3 v 1 Dunfermline
That's 4 reasons....

Alternatively, 3 reasons why we could lose:

New manager bounce
Good away record
It's a Fife derby, not our specialist subject this season.

My best memory of Laidlaw, like most other Rovers fans, was the 3-2 win at Easter Road in the cup. Aside from the 3-3 Cowden game, I remember him having a shocker against Queen of the south in a Friday night BBC Alba game at Starks Park, then dropping a routine catch at the feet of a Dundee forward in the last minute of the New Year game that same season, which cost us the game.

I'm still not convinced, however, he was any worse than Lee Robinson whose clean sheet in the Ramsdens Cup final overshadowed some horrific displays in the league.

I like Thomson and have defended him alot but I'd take the guy who conceded 5 goals against us on Saturday ahead of him! Smith is a very good 'keeper for this level.

Frank hates everything and everyone in case you hadn't noticed.

On paper a good signing. If he's half as good as he once was, which he most likely isn't.

'keepers Union for me with laidlaw though. He has the right attributes to be a good 'keeper at this level. Would prefer better. But, can we get better for backup/ no1 at this level?

Why do you refer to league 1 as this level ? as if you are better than this ?  You are not better than  league 1 ( Honestly FFS ) :shutup:lol:

I think you'll find that now the likes of The Rangers and Dunfermline no longer frequent this level, we've been sent down to provide some consolation to teams at this level, what with the Rovers pound and our generous away form and such like.

Because when laidlaw was at us previously we played at a higher level. He has also been playing in the premiership. Nothing to do with us being better than this level. Now back in your box.
