TBF in the past 5 years I've seen a League Cup victory, several European games, top 6 finishes (bar 1 season); which isn't too bad for circa £150 a season + £30 cup top-up. Better than Hearts... Strathclyde's certainly is anyway. For example at Edinburgh we have 3 main unions: Potterrow (which is effectively a concrete 1980s nightclub); Pleasance (a kind of "trendy bohemian" wine-bar cum beer-garden); and Teviot (a sort of traditional pub; well actually 4 pubs - & the oldest student union in the world). You'll never see me in Potterrow.The problem that smaller/newer unis face is that they usually have 1 union dominated by the baseload inebriates... That is possibly the most inaccurate description of Teviot I've heard in my life. Later on it tries and generally fails to transform into a club. Everyone in my course goes to QM all the time because the music department is right next to it. You're being very harsh on it, but I really am beginning to see the appeal of the GUU. What the QM does have going for it is the pizzas in the food factory are good and reasonably priced, however, the rest is overpriced bollocks, the place is like a cafeteria though as you said. Jim's bar is also good, but several of the GU bars are on a par with it I'd say, from my limited experience during freshers week. The QM clubnights are good, but the Hive does piss over the lot of them. I think I shall be frequenting the GU more often if at all possible. I have still not met yourself or indeed any other P&Ber! The Subway and Cafe in the GUU are reasonable enough, and there's the Hub which (although a wee bit more expensive) does genuinely good food. What would a seat in middle of Wheatfield have cost me (nearest comparable to middle West Stand at ER). Bear in mind in the same time Hearts have also won 1 cup, played in Europe a few times, and missed top 6 once... It gets a bit interesting now ... Working on the presumption that I'm diligent enough to have taken early-bird at Hearts, I'd now have paid out around £1,250 + cup/European games... At Hibs, I've paid around £750. And since Hibs have a cup top-up scheme (I don't think Hearts have had that consistently over the past 5 years?) I'm probably saving a few notes there as well. And IMO the West Stand at ER is nicer than Wheatfield Stand... HIBS have in that time - earned 217 points in the SPL; never finished out of top 6 ; Highest 4th, lowest 6th. HEARTS have in that time - earned 249 points in the SPL; finished outside top 6 once; Highest 2nd, lowest 8th. HIBS have played in Europe 3 times - 2 UC games, 6 IC games; 1 tie won; 10 goals for, 11 goals against HEARTS have played in Europe 2 times - 4 CL games, 4 UC/EL games; 1 tie won; 6 goals for, 11 goals against HIBS have won the League Cup once, and reached Semi-Finals of the Scottish Cup twice (one lost on replay...) HEARTS have won the Scottish Cup once, and reached the Semi-Finals of the League Cup once So the question is, balancing up the above comparisons... is Hearts performance worth 70% more than Hibs ?
