Me Pork - lamb - doughnuts

Wife : Salmon - Cod - chocolate parfait

I was torn between the halibut/turbot main and the lamb but seeing the sheep outside and being held up by the wee fuckers on the way to the restaurant edged it. the chicken butter sauce with the for cod may have been the highlight of the meal (although my wee boy says its the best sourdough hes ever eaten, the spoiled wee shite)

That looks fucking fantastic! Why do we tend to drown our pasta in sauce?

Was great. Proper osteria home cooking, in that diavola isn't normally a pasta dish. They've sliced some spicy salami and olives through it.

You're right about the sauce thing. As long as it's coated it's enough.

Copying the American Bolognese.  That's my theory. Totally ruins the pasta.

Good theory. The American response to any “ethnic” or “traditional” dish is to adjust it to “American tastes”. Chinese dishes are “improved” by adding more meat and sauces, plus doubling the serving size. Italian dishes get, as you’ve noted, drowned in sauces, because if a little is good…meanwhile, the flavor of the sauces is turned down so the larger amount doesn’t overwhelm you. If a burger is good, a double must be better, see Five Guys.

Had my Mum down this morning, and she took with her the essentials from Deas in Muir of Ord. Very much looking forward to having these later. Fairly sure County fans spoke highly of them.

As for the tattie scones, something I never thought about making, they look tremendous @Cosmic Joe

On another note, for those London based, this looks like it will be opening in Angel towards the end of August https://auldhag.co.uk/ so you could feasibly go for your roll and sausage, before a short walk to the Scottish Stores for a pint of Vitamin T

I saw that and was beyond excited, last time I went to the Scottish Stores they were closed so a secondary place would be very welcome.
