Haven't heard this before, is it in employment law? I know Network Rail are supposed to enforce a 12hour break between shifts.

Depends on the job. A lot of companies have started writing terms into the contract that waive your right to that aswell.
jmothecat
You are legally entitled to 11 hours between shifts, so they can't force you to start at 2pm if you only finished at 6am. You can sign a document to waive that right (European working time directive?) I'm fairly sure. My last job was shift work and I did that deliberately as I preferred doing an early morning after a back-shift as it meant I would get two shifts done in less than 24 hours.
eddiemunster
You're right enough, you can waive your right under the EWTD, best to check your contract of employment to see if you've done so when accepting the terms.

Correct. No time served also, he's just an apprentice. After a few months he can cum back.

weirdcal
Both great wines. Have you tried Cloudy Bay? (can't remember if it's a Marlborough wine though!) Will keep an eye out for it. Quite fond of that region for wine..

Pelorus is Cloudy Bay's sparkling wine, and has been our family''s choice for any sparkling wine-related events for quite a while. Much nicer than champagne or cava.
