itzdrk
The Clyde Riviera: We're Better Than You. you don't speak for the people of Troon imo
die hard doonhamer
Riviera is a metaphor for a lush, luxurious resort, therefore fitting exactly to Greenock's description on the Tail of the Bank. Riviera has no geographical meaning in its own right. Thanks for playing anyway. Well, no. The dictionary says it is a coastal region. Unlucky, you are from the coast, you weegie.
vikingTON
Well, no. The dictionary says it is a coastal region. Unlucky, you are from the coast, you weegie. Dictionaries are frequently wrong, particularly when using foreign words such as this. The lush vegetation and subtropical climate was the relevant aspect of the metaphor. Regardless: anyone who characterises Greenock as Weegie automatically falls at the first hurdle. Unless living in Perth makes you a Dundonian, in which case, you're the one with the greater problem here. Deepest sympathies.

No problems with that. In truth, the weegie jibe was tongue in cheek because it so obviously leaves you, as you would put it, rattled. And I tend to agree with your costal arguement as well, but you need to stop peddling the riviera line for it to be credible.
Granny Danger
Everyone west of Cumbernauld is a weegie.
philpy
Well, no. The dictionary says it is a coastal region. Unlucky, you are from the coast, you weegie. "Weegie" is a term of "Glaswegian". Greenock ain't part of Glasgow.

vikingTON
Sigh. Please refer to your inferior status using the VT Cut-Out-And-Keep Map of Scotland. Anywhere north-east of the Queen Street tunnel is not civilisation: this is the most recognisable dividing line.

Ebanda's Handyman Services
Nearly finished my first illustrated book for my kids. The writing is no problem but the illustrations are quite hard with regards to making them decent looking but humorous.
Hedgecutter
Sigh. Please refer to your inferior status using the VT Cut-Out-And-Keep Map of Scotland. Anywhere north-east of the Queen Street tunnel is not civilisation: this is the most recognisable dividing line. You've called us Teuchters yet not the Teuchters? - more coast-related fail. Equivalent of us calling everyone close to Glasgow 'Weegies' but not folk actually in Glasgow. At least we have consistency. Anyway, Weegies can't seem to grasp that 'Weegie' is a general, collective term used by anyone outside of your comfort bubble to describe those SW of the Castlecary Viaduct. The rather 'notable' accent (and anomalously high ned:human ratio in general) very similar to Glasgow itself allows us to easily group it all together. To summarise: you're a Weegie from Weegieland. ... and yes, I'll happily accept 'Teuchter'. Edited January 20, 2013 by Hedgecutter
vikingTON
You've called us Teuchters yet not the Teuchters? If they're north from civilisation, and not under Savage or 'Incest' then they're Teuchter. The map is fairly straightforward.

I had gone for Cumbernauld as the border however I will accept the Castlecary Viaduct. It's a small wonder that the more entrepreneurial of the neds have not set up stalls at this location selling shell suits, Buckfast and under the counter cigarettes. If you stopped to purchase any of the wares there would be a group of young neds offering to 'mind yer car mister'.
