Strade Bianchi turning into a classic. Lead Group with MVdP, WVA, Alaphilippe, Bernal, Pogacar, Pidcock & Gogl.

Supertuck in evidence, but Eurosport saying it's outlawed from April 1.

MVdP blows JA & Bernal away with a MONSTROUS acceleration up the last Km climb into Sienna, riding them clean off the wheel..

The Watts he would have been putting out, must just have been crazy numbers.

Ridiculous from Van der Poel but arguably the most impressive ride there was Bernal. Not a classics specialist and bodes well for him going into the Giro.

Can only imagine in the other classics with an uphill finish, (Fleche Wallone, Amstel, & L-B-L being prime examples) the rest can forget it if they take him to the finish. He'll be a shoe in for San Remo too, on that form.

Jaw dropping stuff from MVdP. What an exciting talent he is. Great times in cycling at the moment. Really good to see Bernal and Pogacar involved along with MVdP, Allaphillipe and Van Aert.

Indeed, looks like he is properly back to his best. Great to see.

Hadn't realised Porte crashed out of Paris-Nice, on stage 1, with 29 km to go! #NaeLuck

Looked pretty innocuous as well. It would appear the root cause was similar to Thomas’ crash in the giro last year with a bottle scattering across the ground.
The race has been littered with crashes including today. George Bennett appeared to go head first into a gate at the side of the road, shattered his helmet and by the looks of it had little checks from the race doctors.

The Bennett incident was ridiculous. Camera's on him in the aftermath, staggered backward, had broke his helmet at the back & looked woozy. On film for bout a min, with cars passing, cut back after another 40 secs & their clipping a replacement lid on him & sending him on his way. At the same time a couple of medics arrive & it's thumbs up, wi zero concussion check![emoji2371]

Why they had a sprint in the immediate lead up to a pinch point, laden with metal street furniture, was bordering on lethal.

Roglic bottle crashing again? He's blowing Paris-Nice!
Came off bike twice on final descent.
Was 50 secs up at the start, he's now out of yellow by a min & expanding.
Considering he stole the stage yesterday. I'm sure a big slice of schadenfreude will be enjoyed on the Bahrain Victorious bus tonight.

French conspiracy against Roglic must be due to be called soon enough. Roglic can consider himself in good company as I also came off the bike on Saturday.

Maybe it’s just me - I don’t quite get the grief for Roglic passing Mader almost on the line on Saturday’s stage. Given what happened yesterday any time advantage you can get is much needed for the what if scenarios in the follow up stages. It’s a shame that it was to be Mader’s first win but I’m sure he will go on to many wins as he’s given a good account himself on both the stage and race overall with his 10th place.

I took Ganna as an e/w bet for Milan - San Remo at 33/1 but it’s hard to see past van der Poel on current form. It’s a hope more than expectation bet.
