Matej Mohoric has a major crash, losing grip on his back wheel, on a descent, bike kicked throwing him over the bars, with a head impact on landing. Appeared ok in tv pictures, but sat back down in the road, after being presented with a replacement bike. His forks broke off in the crash.
I'd imagine his Giro's over & SHOULD be taken to hospital.

*Now in a stretcher, conscious, with a neck brace on & away in an ambulance.
A shame as Bahrain had just stuck 3 in the break over the first climb & were pushing on. Caruso being at 39 secs on GC, whilst Ineos had Martinez at 1.30 there.
Break at 35 secs.

Impact looked horrible. As you say thankfully seemed like no breaks but almost certainly a concussion and good to see the medics taking good care of him.

Today's stage only notable so far, for a sprint for time bonus between Bernal & Evenopoel. Ineos denying the Belgian through Narvarez taking 3, whilst Bernal only lost a second to Remco by crossing the line 3rd.
Onward to the stage finish.

Going by the actions of Deceuninck thus far on the road today - there may be trouble to come. Evenepoel has struggled on all white road sections and Almeida has looked pretty strong today but has been back on/off to assist Evenepoel, I don't think either looked particularly happy with the other. Excellent stage today and Bernal looking like he'll only put more time into the others.

Bernal putting down a marker, Yates limiting losses again but Carthy looked to have gone deep & got caught out a bit; attacking, when keeping your powder dry might have been the better option.

Evenepoel understandably nervous on the Strade descents, but still managed to keep the major loss to around 2 mins, though Ineos have mentioned needing 1&1/2 mins on him going into the ITT. Think DQS team, lack of riding Strade Bianchi earlier in the season came back to bite them a bit.

Bernal looks back to his Tour winning form. A strong favourite now, but obviously a long way to go. The battle for podium places looks very interesting.
Agree Bernal looks strong but I'd definitely wait till the Zoncolan stage before saying he looks a favourite given his underwhelming performance at Tirreno and it was on a big climb his back problems came to the fore at the tour last time round.

Yates shows his hand, but Bernal still takes 10 secs out of him

Fantastic win for Fortunato, of Contador/Basso's Eolo-Kometa team. Apparently Bertie has said he'd ride from Madrid to Milan if they won a stage, & what a stage to win; Zoncolan!

Got to laugh at Wiggo, commenting on Remco radioing for Almeida. ("What's the benefits, apart from a bit of comfort")

Given his shouts for Froome to get his arse back to pace him in his Tour win in 2012. Prize Arsehole.

Reduced Queen stage owing to the weather and concerns over safety on the descents mean the passo Pordoi and passo Fedaia are omitted

About 2km of the full route able to be broadcast. Eurosport will do well to fill 15 mins of their allotted hour highlights show.

Bernal is looking spectacular, barring any disaster he may well have secured the Giro today. One day Hugh Carthy will win me some money on a stage win after I missed his Angliru win.
