The Falkirk FC Thread

Recommended Posts

While I expect a thorough doing today, it will still be a bit disappointing, but nothing like the utter depression of imaging heading up to Dingwall with Hartley still in charge.

I reckon someone might win the starting eleven bingo today.......and it’s a fourth week roll over! (But hopefully not on the park).

Hello Bairns fans,

Just a couple of questions.

1 - How pish are you?  When McCall took over at us, we were 8th or 9th in League One, confidence at an all time low.  No direction, game plan, understanding or togetherness.  However, within that squad, we had a core group of players who are still pivotal members of our current team.  Do you have a similar situation?

2 - Was Mackinnon a popular choice?  He's had one good season at Raith, but apart from that he's failed to deliver.  Do you think he is the man to make you a force again in this league?

The QoS performance was probably the worst display at this level I have seen, the other two league games were poor but that one was way out on its own

I am hoping a manager with a decent skill set can get us playing with a chance from the first minute and not 45 min onwards as it has been in every game bar QoS.

I'm sticking with he had a good 14 games with Raith post Jan window, I suppose the same happened with McCall with the above reference as McCall came in on the January.

My first choice was McCall as it was pre Hartley but hindsight makes me think we need a more dogged manager, McCall needs attacking players full backs, wide players for his way to be successful and we have three left backs, no right backs, no right mid(we do but I'm not counting him) and one left mid which doesn't fit in with the McCall way. He is an attacking manager in his ways, last seasons 100 or so goals says it all and Shankland is reaping the benefit, I've never been impressed with him at this level but McCall's teams create multiple chances, we had three strikers on 20+ goals in his time here

The next 6-9 games will give us an indication on where we are under McKinnon and the players, one things for sure, I don't think I'll come across a manager as pig headed and clueless as Hartley was at Falkirk, he has made the likes of Gerry Collins and Davie Clarke look like Pep Guardiola

1) No, not really. This is still a Hartley/Mitch Pik n’ Mix group of players with (so far), none of them having earned any sort of “we want to keep him” status.

2) McKinnon’s appointment was met with a huge sigh of relief. We are a decent enough bunch at getting behind a manager (see Hartley’s support until he screwed it all up spectacularly, and by all accounts, turned into Mr Nasty).

There will still be some who will put ridiculous expectations on the new manager’s shoulders, but he probably has less than half a dozen players capable of playing at this level. He needs to get another half dozen of them up to that level for us just to stay in this league.

Club just tweeted that he and Paton are out through injury.

Sadly, the loss of potentially our best performer this season, and the loss of potentially our worst player this season doesn’t even things out.
