The Falkirk FC Thread

Lots of harsh criticism for Alegria, give the guy a chance, comments like horseshit are ridiculous, do we never learn from some of the nonsense that was dished out to Dowds. Fair enough if other fans want to have that opinion  from their experiences but surely the least we can do is give him a bit time, the advice M&S got was he just needs a goal.... I've been at most game so far this season, we have scored a handful of goals and frankly hardly looked like scoring any more than that... today the lad was at least doing what any decent striker should be doing... getting into positions to get chances, probably more chances than we have had all season, if he keeps doing that then a goal will come... then we will see if he can kick on, and if not, then dish out the criticism.

I seem to remember  the criticism "Sally Mccoist" used to get at Rangers, he missed some howlers and probably missed 10 times more than he converted but his scoring record was still phenomenal because he was on the end of everything and looking for every scrap.

McGinn is a class act btw reads the game superbly.

Agreed! Even at his age deserves to be playing at a higher level with better players round him. Couldn't believe the comment from somebody earlier saying he was poor today?

Played in all but 4 of Killies championship games last season and absolute great signing and a true leader.

Won’t be a great stat merchant but rarely gives the ball away.

Watch the highlights and see how Alegria was far better than people here suggest. The keeper did well and he was fouled which normally would get us a penalty if the referee wasn’t a contrarian.

16 shots on target v 1against and some people on here still not happy. Ffs get some perspective.

Lers take a breath here. We've had season after season like today where we could comfortably beat the dross but very little else. Williamson and Morrison need to perform like that consistently not just once in a blue toon. Three points but let's see how we fare next week.

Much improved performance, could have easily been double the score line, against a very poor side. I’ve slated Morrison and Williamson on previous posts, but hats off to each of them, maybe best 90 minutes from both. Shape looked better with McCann. Can’t argue with Algeria’s performance and thought he done ok against persistent intimidation. Great to leave with a smile, and a good Saturday night.
As earlier posted “ let’s take a breath” as hoping this isn’t Morrison & Williamson one in ten games they perform as we’ve seen across the past season or so.

Lastly the really pleasing and hard working performance still doesn’t hide the fact that Hetherington and Nisbett are not good enough.

As I said, he may be creative but it’s not much use if he can’t convert. He needs to learn when to lay it off for others in position on occasion….

Just watched the highlights. They showed 8 attempts on goal from Morrison, one goal. There lies the reason he is in L1.

That was Williamsons best game in a Falkirk shirt, we need to be more clinical in front of goal but today was a massive improvement of what we have seen so for this season, going forward apart from Nisbet and Hetherington I'm happy with that starting 11.

Don’t disagree & it could be we have potential replacements already in squad if Nisbett was replaced by Kai Kennedy & Hetherington by Liam Henderson

There's many things I am not surprised to read on this thread but comparing Alegria to Ally McCoist is fucking wild.

And as a child of the 80s Ally McCoist wasn't criticised regularly at all. The Buns fans adored him. Because he scored 1,690 goals a season.

Watched the highlights and Williamson's lung-bursting run for his goal is superb - He was flying yesterday.

Definitely a contender for SPFL TOTW having topped his performance with that goal.

Does anybody know if a drug test was administered after the game? 🥳🚭

Think he was a bit unlucky yesterday though, his shots can sometimes be rather powder puff which he needs to work on but yesterday was different in my opinion. Their goalie made some rather good saves!

But I do agree if he converted more chances he wouldn’t be in League 1!

I am not saying he wasn’t decent yesterday but he now needs to do two things from here.
1. much more consistently good

2. improve his goal/attempt ratio.

Playing like he did yesterday he is a huge asset. Let’s see more of it from here.

Yeah I know I wasn’t meaning it that way. His end product hasn’t been great at all but I did notice a difference yesterday in basically the speed of his shots, does that make sense? 😂 He is definitely guilty of trying to pass the ball into the net but yesterday had more zip about his efforts.

Hopefully this is things starting to click for the new manager 🤞

I thought Nesbitt was slightly better, but let’s be honest, he’s still nowhere near good enough. Hetherington is a passenger and does the same job as McGinn, just nowhere near as effectively.

Hetherington does the same job as McGinn? How have you come to this conclusion? Completely different types of player. Hetherington has been box to box, driving forward a lot while McGinn sits deep and dictates play. Hetherington gets a lot of stick and might not be our best player but his work rate and determination are clear to see. He was everywhere yesterday, covered near enough every blade of grass.

I watched Hetherington yesterday and your analysis of his game yesterday is quite frankly baffling. What I seen was a player who wants to look neat and tidy but does absolutely bugger all. He gets the ball and plays a wee 2 yard pass sideways. He gave away silly fouls quite a few times due to his poor positioning and failure to read the game. He is anonymous and quite frankly a waste of a jersey!

I honestly think he is one of the worst midfielders we have ever had!

Baffled by my opinion that has has a high work rate and determination? None of your points contradict what I said. I honestly think that labelling him as one of the worst we’ve ever had is extremely harsh. Feel he’s one of our players who will be criticised no matter how well he plays.
