The Falkirk FC Thread

Just to split hairs, it’s not glaringly obvious that we need more investment. We just need more cash to spend, and always will. Whether that’s commercial, tickets, sponsorship, share issues, tankards, cup runs, transfers, gifts or whatever. The 400k thing is the average annual operating loss over a long period, with the shortfalls being made up through all/most of the above plus soft loans when things got tough. Sometimes the argument seems to boil down to a false, binary choice between what we’ve all built in the last couple of years and some imaginary sugar daddy.

The Club could do a lot worse than maybe booking some big ticket bands / artists to play multiple gigs at the Stadium before they’re forced to tare up the pitch. Make a few quid out of it while we still can.

You could Falkirk town for £23.87.

So why would anyone put millions into an incomplete stadium next to a petro-chrmical toun?

Genuine question.f

That's the thing about windups...they don't work if due to your own ahem abilities you fail to get any semblance of a readable paragraph across

That really was bizarre, anyone who attended one of the meet and greets in the Brockville lounge must have surely seen him for what he was, a fantasist weirdo.

Unreal scenes that it’s only July and we’re arguing among ourselves already:lol:what a fanbase.

Season starts soon, we may have things to gripe about, or we might be brilliant. I’ll sit tight until then to see how we do.

Looking back it's mental it even got that far down the road.

A salutary lesson and one we shouldn't forget in pursuit of the seemingly never-ending funding football consumes.

Absolutely way off mark. Totally agree with the PM comments. It’s glaringly obvious we need further investment, as our current model which without doubt has improved our stability, is way short of wiping out the -0.4M/0.5M monkey on our back each season. Last season was sensational and the team simply blew the opposition apart. Memories which for all the supporters will last a life time.

Realty check, we as a fan owned should look at one of the top league teams - Motherwell with its SPFL millions are already looking for financial help.

It is only a matter of time before a long-established club in the higher divisions goes out of business and there is no white knight to save it.

Budget for position X end up on position Y with no financial buffer and that's it all over.

The club has put together the best team it can afford. Suspect its budgeted for mid-table (that's the sensible call) and anything above is a bonus. The mid-season in and outs will be interesting.

The fan ownership model should mean we're able to easily stop any charlatans getting their hands on the club but this works only when the club is being run to break even.

If we speculate beyond our means then we'll start to post losses again and increasing losses on the balance sheet make ANY investment more palatable than just trying to attract 'good' investment.

We'll have a decent budget this year compared to others in the league I imagine.  If we can reach play offs or above then its a really good season.  If not, then questions will rightly be asked whether we spent the budget wisely.
