Bofabairn
It's a win - let's hope it builds some momentum. PH has said he'll go if we fail this season so let's back them to do their best. Our squad ain't much worse than other teams so let's support them to get as close as possible.

All across the defence has been a shambles. The signings have only really addressed the centre. Is he? Got hooked at HT at Dunfermline for selling a goal and the full team had a shocker against Queens. 'Comfortable' wouldn't be the word I'd choose.
GMBairn
Only conceding 1 goal is an improvement, a feat we only managed once in August against dumbarton, based on that evidence the 2 new signings we have may have had an impact at the back. Never good to concede from a corner but better than getting 3 or 4 rammied passed us in open play.

Disco Duck
For once Houston's post match interview seemed reasonable - no kicking the players, no derogatory comments about the opposition. Still think he's a dead man walking.

Comfortable in the sense that he is not a fish out of water as he was previously. Obviously no Danny McGrain but certainly not the weakest link in our defence.

I'd rather he played centre but I think there is no coincidence that our bombs care centre pairing last season had him struggling, funnily our bombs care centre pairing had him struggling again. If our managers interview stating we don't play an offside line, we simply defend, really takes the first goal away from him v pars, 2nd goal shared blame. Fifer game tho, he defended better than Gallacher....it's not clever to state that, but its true

I think the problem is combinations. Watson AND Gasparotto doesn't work in any way shape or form but they are still players that could play next to a decent defender who is, crucially, on form. Grant hasn't been for whatever reason or another. Houston doesn't seem to understand the idea of good and bad combinations of players though as shown by his use of Watson and Gasparotto, Taiwo and Kerr, Baird and McHugh.

However, if we want to win the league or playoffs then to me we need better. He's too often found wanting at right back in the big games against better sides. Last year's home leg against United was a classic example. You can never fault his effort but for what we want to do we need a proper specialist right back if you ask me.
Guest
Looks like the new recruits have fair shored up the defence. Goal against from a bloody corner. Goalkeeper is a big issue for me, watch every set piece against us and how teams make it impossible to come off his line.
BountyBairn
Onwards. Hoping for further improvement on Saturday and maybe we can start to build from there. Was useful to get a duck off our back last night but the challenge cup is just a distraction IMO. I'd be tempted to play fringe players until the final if we were to get that far.

Good to see Austin back scoring as we need his confidence up after a difficult period. Get him to f**k! If he's one of those players that needs his confidence boosted he shouldn't be anywhere near the team?
ANEWHOPE
Centre of the defence has been a shambles, Muirhead is actually beginning to look quite comfortable at right back. To be fair to him he is being asked to play a position that he not equipped to play. However to have watched him play and think he is beginning to look comfortable is stretching it for me. He works hard but he still struggles to play that position and as a result the team is weaker. However any blame should be assigned to the stubborn arsehole in the dugout that consistently puts him in that position.
ANEWHOPE
Still...Houston out. 100% A win yesterday & a win against Brechin will without doubt convince some that Houston should be given a chance to turn things round and for me as much as I want us to win every game that will come with a long term cost. Furthermore the bigger picture is that we are once again in a position of having to turn things round. Added to this a squad with a few glaring weaknesses that albeit have seemingly been addressed but were weaknesses only of the managers own making.
AL-FFC
I think come January, Watson and/or Luca will be gone and i dont think Sheps is good enough as much as i would like the lad to cut the mustard he/s filling a jersey on the cheap in the hope he isnt needed.

They should have been cleared out in the summer. Now we have to pay them and the 2 new CBs until the end of the year. Houston fecked up. Again.
AL-FFC
I didnt think Gasporotto was too bad any time he played for Morton against us, Watson i have never rated i think with the situation we have at the moment no one would have thought we would have had so many injuries or suspensions on saying that i reckon Houston thought he would have been able to sign a couple more players than Harris, Loy and Mitchell during pre season and if it wasnt for having a shite start we wouldnt have got McGhee and Balatoni due to the board needing to come up with a solution to release funds.

Coming up with a solution to release funds? I don't they did. They got lucky with the Kingsley money imo. No way they'd have let Houston bring in two players if that hadn't happened. They've clearly no desire to invest to get us out of this league, as shown by their track record.
