I think a few are underestimating the difference between League 1 and the Championship for strikers.

For some reason the El Baktoui or whatever his name is springs to mind!

Andy Ryan is another one.

There's probably loads who have failed to step up.

McManus probably isn't has hard to replace as many think. Hopefully we can sign a few strikers that will share the goals between them.

Nice to see the Bairns are still floundering around & found there level of league 1 in Scottish Football & raging that the nomadic style that is Declan McManus has them in a spin of He trots to give the Championship another go.. Enjoy Clyde, Airdrie, Cove & Dumbarton.... How is Ray McKinnon theses days??

McManus is different though he was never not ok for the level or put of his depth. His game was just different. If we had gone up and lost McManus he would be a loss despite having no right to expect as many goals out of him.

Its not easy to replace a guy that scores 20 odd goals regularly at any level unfortunately. Look at Sammon. Guy has played in the epl and regularly at English championship level. He should be cruising league one and scoring for fun but struggled.

Of course not. Goals is the hardest to find and keep commodity in football. It wont be easy to replace him and getting guys in to spread the goals about is the most hopeful option as I dont particularly like our chances of replacing him for goals player for player.

Sammon is still more than good enough to score goals in this league, but I question both his motivation and our ability to play him to his strengths and I dont think either will be improved

For every Andy Ryan and El Bakhtaoui, you've a Lawrence Shankland and a Nicky Clark.

Some folk refuse to use their eyes when assessing football. McManus put everything together when we changed manager and was near enough scoring every game. Goals from all sorts of situations. You don't smash in 30 yard free kicks if you're just a workhorse running the channels. The player we saw from November-ish onwards will have a field day against Jordan McGhee or Paul Watson, for example.

Where do you even start with this

Some folk evidently hand over their money at the gate and stand with their back to the pitch

Although neither Clark or Shankland have shown they can score a barrowford of  goals regularly at any level above championship yet. Time will tell. There's a lot of players that get that far and then struggle at top level too whilst others like mcmanus do it in league one but no higher . Its all about levels at the end of the day.

The guys played 100 odd games for likes of Derby  in the english championship. You don't play that many at that level without having something about you.

We're in League One and signed a shower of shite in January. Miller and McCracken will need to massively improve on that track record to get someone half as good as McManus.

It is not impossible that those players are out there but I have no faith is us 1) finding them, 2) signing them and 3) compensating them appropriately.

The other thing you need to take from the GD interview is him saying Falkirk were a soft touch with the money side of things and that that will be changing in other words if they arent willing to play for the lowest we can get them for its no happening or we are going to be left waiting till the last minute to get the dregs again with another season in the seaside leagues beckoning.

Let's go out and sign Archie Gemmill then, he's scored in the World Cup. Must have something about him.

He showed plenty of flashes of genuine ability. Not least his pearler against Raith. He also showed far more times that he couldnt be fucked with constant hoofball in his direction. Any claim that he somehow doesnt have enough talent for this shite league is nonsense. Total nonsense.

When Sammon started the season he wasnt match fit it took M and M to take over for him to lose a bit weight the other issue is you never managed to get Sammon and MacMillon on form at the same time if one blew cauld you could replace with the other this time we need Sammon to be on form from the get go i dont doubt he has ability but he needs to be motivated and have his finger out his arse from the start.

I don’t think Sammon is capable of scoring 20+ goals even at this level nowadays however thinking back to the game at Starks before the league stopped and he was dropped and we had absolutely nothing up top and looked shite. Also doesn’t help that they just try and lump the ball to him every chance they get, he has far more to his game than that.
