Will Arsene lead the gunners to the title this season?

I've put £50 on them to win the league. Look very strong at the minute, Liverpool and Chelsea won't be far behind them. Can never rule out city.

Big game for them on saturday. Wee treble on Arsenal, Everton and city possibley with Arsenal and Everton both -1

Just to give a sense of how far away Arsenal have been.

Average points total of PL champions in the last 10 years: 88 pts

Average points total of Arsenal over the last 10 years: 74.5 pts

Not even within touching distance of genuine contenders since they last won the league. If the Arsenal board had any ambition they would really have got shot of Wenger a long time ago. He's not achieving enough points in the league and they're not threatening the top teams in Europe to win a major trophy there either. The benchmark of success at Arsenal now is consistent qualification to the champions league to get papped out in the early knock out rounds and the odd domestic trophy to placate an increasingly restless fan base.

I think it's clear they're desperately in need of new leadership.

That's the same 10 years that they've been paying off a quarter of a billion pound loan taking out to fund the emirates.

They've now cleared that, built up reserves of cash and start to look like proper contenders again

To suggest that the Arsenal Board lacked ambition is to miss the point. They had ambition but it was long term ambition.

They knew that achievements would be modest for a few years as they placed Wenger in financial shackles and were ready to deal with that.

Arsenal have not placed wenger in financial shackles that's just not true,  they've been saying for 10 years there's loads of money there he just hasn't spent it due to his own hubris.

A lie to sell season tickets.

Wenger wasn't afraid to spend money prior to the loan being taken out, he hasn't been afraid to spend money since it's been paid off.

Yes he has, do some rresearch.   Wenger himself says he wants to prove it can be done another way ie not throwing money at it, so arsenal fans pay the highest prices in world football to watch a team that wins noting because of his hubris and ego.  And all he's succeeded in doing is proving it can't.   There has always been much more money there for him to  spend than he spends,  they have reserves of about 350 million right now, you don't think he could improve the team with That?

Two, years ago at the start of the season,  and after the transfer windows closed, arsenal announce they had 197 mmillion in cash reserves and no long term debt.  This season it was 350.  There Is shitloads of money there for him to spend he just refuses to spend It.   He says he wants to build up enough cash that arsenal have enough money to survive one season without any income at all (as if that is ever going to happen) yeah that's fine you you cansstick that In the trophy room.

This iswhat happens when you hhave a manager with a masters in economics and an massive ego.  He has been taking the piss out of and lying to arsenal fans for years.

"lie" is a strong word in this context

Arsenal have indeed spent "loads of money" in recent years but three clubs have spent "Loads and loads of money".

They've had the 4th highest wage bill in the last 4 seasons but they have halved the gap on the biggest spenders from 23% in 2013-14 to 11% this season
