flyingrodent
Don't be so fucking glib, Rhatbhoy. Think of the nurses, schools and soldiers. Think of the titles. Scotland has been shamed in a way that no one could have comprehended even 3 years ago. Aye, it's an outrage. Me, I'm wondering where the apologies to HMRC and others who investigated the EBTs are. It's not so long ago, that this place was filled with ripe denunciations of Hector and the BBC etc. for their statements and actions on the DeadCo's malfeasance. Surely Hector has now been utterly vindicated, and some very meek mea culpas are called for?

scottxs
so apart from the accounts being terrible and HMRC winning the tax case nothing has really changed then. Edited November 4, 2015 by scottxs
williemillersmoustache
Grant Russell @STVGrant 2m2 minutes ago Comment on Rangers Tax Case verdict from SPFL. Spokesman says they'll "take time to carefully consider this lengthy and complex judgement."
kiddy
The claim on BBC's Reporting NorthBritain, mentioned it not affecting Sevco. As "the club was now run by a different company"! What happened then, to the Sevco club that was admitted to Scottish football, whilst oldco's club was being ejected?
Njord
soa part from the accounts being terrible and HMRC winning the tax case nothing has really changed then. Your missing king's 3 month suspended sentence in SA and a court date for him on Dec 9th that might see him get jail time...
The_Kincardine
Surely Hector has now been utterly vindicated, and some very meek mea culpas are called for? You make a good point. Two tribunals thought we were right but the CoS, ultimately, determined we weren't. Thus, Rangers got the tax rules wrong and we are guilty as charged.
Njord
Alex Rae is adamant that when he signed his EBT it was an actual loan that had to be paid back. He declines to reveal when that actual repayment falls due......

They're being so very careful about it it's not real, tip toeing around the outside trying not to upset anyone. The radio news on the way home was an absolute shambles.
flyingrodent
Of course, rather than squirming & dodging for almost ten years, Sir Dave could've settled this in the mid-2000s by just being honest with HMRC. But then, I suppose that would've created a risk of Rangers getting into financial difficulties.

It also carries an interest burden.

Think I skipped over it too fast, it was to go to any children, then their children etc etc sticks in my mind.
flyingrodent
You make a good point. Two tribunals thought we were right but the CoS, ultimately, determined we weren't. Thus, Rangers got the tax rules wrong and we are guilty as charged. Given that Rangers deliberately kept the existence of this scheme from the ruling body, then spent the next decade hurling lawyers at Hector to avoid having to disclose it, I think it's a bit kind to suggest that they only "Got the tax rules wrong". Nonetheless, "we are guilty as charged" is a lot better than expected, so kudos to you.
