craigkillie
lol our coefficient is gonna be really fucked after next season. 5 Teams in Europe and none likely to qualify for the actual group stages. Could be a sore one. Of course wouldn't expect any different if rangers somehow make it in. Celtic will be massive odds on favourites to reach at least one group stage. If they win CL 3rd qualifying round against fellow diddy nation champions, they'll reach CL play-off round against slightly less diddy but still diddyish champions. Win that, they're in CL groups, lose it they're in EL groups. If they lose their CL 3rd qualifying round, they'll get into the EL playoff round where they'll be seeded. Win that and they'll be in the EL groups.
Homer Thompson
By the way, here's a point. If Rangers were to be liquidated is their record expunged from the co-efficients? Or would it just degrade away over the 4 years? If the former, that would have a huge impact. Any chance they could strip them of past honours that they, obviously, won through cheating? A Scottish Cup win would be nice Wibble That is brilliant.
P45
http://forum.rangersmedia.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=212004 Some good stuff here. Post 4 is worth an honourable mention.
HibeeJibee
according to SPL rule H5 it MAY be I was meaning co-efficients, i.e. UEFA's ranking system. If Rangers were liquidated, and their points scrubbed, our co-efficient drops like a stone: meaning clubs entering much earlier and unseeded.
GoTeamGaz
just had a thought; should Rangers be liquidated they'll need to get their skates on forming this new team & be able to show they can fulfill their fixtures. In the event of a 'New Rangers' whether looking to enter the SPL or the SFL there are likely to be three parties vying for the 'right' to be the succesor to the club, the supporters groups, Whyte & the Murray/King lot, possibly even more, could end up being dragged through the courts to who has the right to apply, meaning they'd almost certainly miss any deadline to be in any league at all. Perhaps the fans groups should start forming a team & applying to junior leagues now so they have a head start?

Granny Danger
I know the song thing has been done to death on here, but I think it would be appropriate if every ground played "When You're Smiling" when Rangers fans visit between now and the end of the season (or the end of Rangers, whichever is sooner).

Their lack of organisation/supporters rallys etc is laughable. Celtic, Motherwell, Dundee, Thistle etc were much more proactive in their clubs hour of need. Majority of Rangers had/stlll have their heads in sand.

Unless they're also somehow turning-up an SFL-compliant stadium and 3 years worth of audited accounts, it'd be an irrelevance to getting to SFL/SPL football anytime soon. If Rangers go into liquidation, the obvious mechanism for continuation remains the transfer of share/membership. This means they continue as a club, in the manner Middlesbrough and Leeds did. If they're liquidated and this doesn't happen (say it's blocked or they don't/can't try it), someoe would probably have to buy East Stirling or similar. Considering that, and Ibrox, a "Rangers war" seems unlikely.

chico
@GerryBraiden: Police still unpaid for weekend's Ibrox game and won't provide officers again until debt cleared and cash up front. @theheraldpaper Edit to add. Is the next OF game at Ibrox? It might be behind closed doors then. Edited February 23, 2012 by chico

HibeeJibee
Now - this raises all sorts of interesting possibilities, if the Police are unhappy. You only pay for police inside the ground, IIRC, and theoretically Rangers could try to use alternatives (stewards, private security firms, etc.) as Motherwell and others have done a few times... but that's assuming anyone else wouldn't wanted paid upfront too. Although they're probably cheaper than the police. They could play behind closed-doors... but that's cutting revenues and alienating supporters (STs particularly). They could ask SPL for an advance on prizemonies... but currently, they're lowest possible finish is 6th (~£750k) and they've hundreds of £ outstanding debts to other clubs. Major predicament - 9 days till Hearts. Edited February 23, 2012 by HibeeJibee
