Christophe
(130) The Death of a Gentleman 5/10 Doco. A couple of cricket fans/journalists set out to discover whether Test cricket is really dying and uncover a conspiracy which everyone already knew about. Dry, not really that informative, but there was a solid narrative. I bloody love Ed Cowan and Gideon Haigh, and Giles Clark really is the smuggest human on the planet. Ramagamma
Ghost in the Shell (1995) Thought i would watch the original cartoons before taking in the Scarlet Johansen version - Still excellent after all these years, animation is still as good as anything that has come out since. As with any Sci-fi it has started to age as actual technology passes what was percieved as many years in advance (the little things like mobile phones, Wifi etc overtaking fixed lines..) but still very good, and current in its issues. Glad you enjoyed the original because the ScarJo version is fucking dire. I hate this term because its lazy but its 2 hours of nothing happening. I'd like to give it half a pass for being pretty but its not its just dark and dreary and outright difficult to watch. Checked the time 6 times during the screening which must be a record.

Christophe
(131) The Barkley Marathons 9/10 Doco. Bunch of absolute lunatics get tricked? convinced? challenged? to do this mental 5 marathon in 5 days challenge on an unmarked course by a complete charlatan and it's the most inspiring thing ever and absolutely everyone comes out better from it. Loved it to bits. (Netflix) Edited June 16, 2017 by Christophe -

MSU
Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates -- 5/10. Look, it's rubbish. But it's watchable rubbish. And a couple of times, either intentionally or not, it made me laugh. (HBO)
Christophe
(132) Bowie: The Man Who Changed The World 0/10 Started watching this Bowie doc on Netflix, but it was one of those really shit ones where the only people they can find to talk to are his old landlady and they got any clearance to use any of his music so just used "sort of sounds a bit like Bowie" incidental music over the whole thing. Couldn't even finish it. Total shit. -
Christophe
(133) Beyond All Boundaries 7/10 Set against the cricket World Cup in India but followed three people, a 12 year old who's beating all of Tendulkar's schoolboy records under the watchful eye of his Competitive Dad; an 18 year old girl who gives up school and risks everything to get into the local under-19 team under the mistaken assumption that the women earn even the tiniest fraction of what the men do; and most interestingly a superfan who literally cycles across India to watch the team play. He's got the shape of India on the top of his head and the rest is shaved, he wears bodypaint all the time, and he's obviously doing it because he's gay and this way he doesn't have to come out OR marry a woman. He's always slagging his parents off saying they beat him and they never talk and then at the end after he's achieved national notoriety and met Sachin Tendulkar and he returns home the whole village is out to welcome him and his parents are like "this is the proudest day of our lives" and "our dream has come true" and there's not even the flicker of a smile Really enjoyed this. D.A.F.C
Made of StoneStone Roses doc. Good behind the scenes look at their reunion plus some early footage. If you're not a roses fan it has zero appeal but if you like them it's a must watch. Hard to rate.
Christophe
(134) Raiders! 8/10 Based off the book about two pre-teens who decided to make a shot-for-shot remake of Indiana Jones, it took them 7 years and they didn't do the plane/Pat Roach fight scene because where do two teenagers get a plane to blow up? The film is set in the present as they have reunited to finish the film and nothing seems to go right. I loved the book and this was great too, it was great to finally see some of the footage from the film and there's ones guy, the special effects guy, who absolutely LOATHES the two guys and thinks they're utter morons but keeps coming back to help out and it's hilarious. Christophe
(135) Silent Hill 7/10 Watched this again for the first time in a couple of years. I do really like this, as a game adaption to a film I think it's one of the best. I also highly rate Radha Mitchell. She was the best thing about Pitch Black which is about the only film in which I can stomach Vin Diesel. (Netflix) It is by far the best video game adaptation out there, I can't think of any that come remotely close. The sequel was utterly shite unfortunately which has killed it as a film franchise. It's a pity as there was definitely massive potential to play with.
