What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Gone, Baby Gone: 10/10

I've been waiting for this for ages. I was almost in two minds as to whether I should watch it or not as I love the book (Dennis Lehane, author of Mystic River) and this being Ben Affleck’s directorial debut. He got it spot on. The Boston neighbourhood feel of the book is portrayed on the screen and the casting surprisingly fitted the characters from the book. I was a little uneasy by him casting Casey Affleck as Patrick Kenzie as he's smaller and less tough than I'd pictured but he did a fantastic job.

I am Legend: 5/10

Massive disappointment. Visually it was stunning, but as much as I like Will Smith he's just not a good enough actor to pull off next to no dialogue for the first 30/40 mins of the film. For the genre I'd say 30 days of night is miles better.

Atonement: 1/10 and that's being kind.

Not my type of film, but the girlfriend wanted to see it and after some of the reviews from the critics about performances I thought I'd give it a chance. Dire story. Gave it 40 mins before leaving the room. When it was finished I went back in and even the girlfriend said it was a pile of shite.

Tell No One: 8, maybe 9/10

French film taken from Harlan Cobens novel of the same name. I'd been eager to see this for a while and wasn't disappointed. The book is fantastic and the story is pretty true to the book, bar it being set somewhere in France rather than New York. Would strongly recommend.

Eastern Promise: 8/10

Not exactly what I imagined and a little slow moving in parts but all round good performances, though was slightly put off by Viggo's fight scene in the buff. Brave man. Certainly not one for those with a weak stomach.

Thankfully I've got Michael Clayton, No Country for Old men, Charlie Wilson’s War and I’m not there to look forward to next.

Just watched Atonement. You were lucky you bailed after 40 mins. What a crock of shite. Can't believe this is being quoted for Oscar nominations. Plot twists, such as there were, were pretty much spelled out in big capital letters for the dimwitted viewers, presumably those for whom this film was made.

1.5GB of my hard drive eternally tarnished by this utter garbage :(

2 hours of my life, etc, etc, etc...

Drive in Massacre (1976)

5/10

For a film with such a low rating on IMDb (1.8) it was actually pretty good, you formed opinions of the characters (mainly likeable), okay the plot holes were comical at times and the ending was a bit of a cop out, but all in all far better than some of the crap films in the Vipco catalogue.

My Xmas viewing:

The Prestige – 8/10. Bale is superb.

X-Men 3 – 6/10. Nothing special.

Bourne 3 – 8/10. Business as usual. Tangiers is a bit special.

Casino Royale – 7/10. A promising re-start. Gets better on a 2nd viewing.

Spidey 3 – 6/10. A disappointment. No need for Sandman, Venom underused. Emo-Parker was a joke, what’s with the dancing?

Zodiac – 7/10. Pretty decent. Being at true story the principles were never going to be in mortal danger.

The Empire Strikes Back – 10/10. Magnificent. Beautiful. Powerful. The most Lucas-less Star Wars is the best and it’s no coincidence.

Donnie Brasco

Been a few years since i've seen this one. Not as good as i remember it but still quality gangster/undercover business. Al Pacino doesn't do too much of his usual shouting schtick which is a relief.

7/10

The Reaping (2007)

5/10

Meh, science crossing into the realm of religion just makes... well frankly meh!

Difficult to take with so many plot holes. Although far better than the tripe that was Revelation!

The Original Jerry Lewis "The Nutty Proffessor", haven't seen it since I was a kid, and it is still funny as f**k!!! Although scarily un-pc in a way you would think yourself to acknowledge!!!

His treatment of women (as Buddy Love) for one thing is absolutely appalling

But then I have always found Jerry Lewis to be like Jim Carrey, you either like him or you fucking really, really hate him!!!

As me and the French are the only people in the World to enjoy the zany antics of Monsieur Lewis, I am going to give the film 10/10!!!

If you aren't a fan, it would probably be a 4 or 5!!!
