It's a deliberate strategy outlined at a supporters meeting. I heard it from themselves at the meeting. I'm sure other attendees could verify it.

Just to add this is part of their footballing strategy, not the only one.

We aren't signing anyone of note and relying heavily on Bene, Todd, Breen etc when they come back, aren't we?

The way things have gone in the summer window, and now this one, I think that's right. I can't see us having an experienced back up in all honesty. Do I think we'll see the pen gif before the window closes? Yes. But I'm worried it's not going to be someone who really impacts an already inexperienced defence. Another panic transfer.

I was never Ashcroft's biggest fan but he's better than what we currently have available. I was glad to see him go in 2020 and when he was released on a free no one batted an eye lid but he would have added some stability.

I think McPake mentioned last week that Jakubiak and Matty Todd were nearing availability and if not in the squad for Arbroath then they would make the squad for Thistle on Friday. Wouldn't be shocked to see them included on Friday from the bench.

Hopefully the Thursday interview brings some fresher news on the rest.

- There's an interview out about KRH on the official website today where McPake talks about him being able to take part in things like crossing/finishing drills but not full contact yet.

- Bene was getting another scan with a specialist to see if he could be involved in the full training I think, but still he's going to be some way off starting a game.

- Breen I think he was the last one expected back until Fisher got injured and was going to be out for 8 weeks. So those two will be some way off.

- Andy Tod - Who actually knows?

Wighton - Apparently out for the season.

In that interview he says Bene, Breen and Tod are running.

What that actually means with regards to them coming back I have no idea!

What clubs don't have trying to develop young players to sell them on as part of their strategy?

Well, looking at Raith how many of them do you think were signed with the intention of selling them them on? Maybe Dabrowski?

Before Raith fans jump on this as criticism, it isn't.

It is an interesting observation. I’m not “sure” Big Kev was signed on that basis as a plan, but more as an opportunity. The ugly reality is the Arsecheeks have the pull to take players off any of us if it come down to it, as does everything down to a League Two English side. I do wonder if some of the two year deals were deliberate on guys who might prove themselves (Easton comes to mind with all the December speculation) to ensure payouts of something happened, but I don’t think there is any player we could say was signed to develop and sell on.

On the uproar about what’s happening at DAFC, what has happened at the Rovers shows just how quickly all that can turn around with the right people driving the bus. The idea behind this German jaunt wasn’t terrible, but the optics and timing are horrendous. I do think every team in the Championship is realizing what potential there is in the Social Media space with what the Rovers have been doing this year, and it’s actually good for the Championship as a whole because it brings eyes. What’s amazing is the fine details, which is where these changes make a difference, like the little details of having Ashcroft in a DAFC top in the background of the release on his signing…yea, he played there a bit, but it’s a fun little dig too with the signing rumour. The worm will turn, and like was done to us on social media by Airdrie, we’ll take our lumps too.

Its a long way of saying if you can somehow steady the boat enough and get the right person in charge, things can look up quickly, but as we know too, it’s f**king dark before that dawn.

I'm sure this has been discussed but how viable is a model of signing players you feel you can develop with a view to selling them on in the Scottish 2nd tier?

Any real quality Fife talent won't be in a Dunfermline academy, anyone with aspirations of leaving a big academy isn't signing a long enough deal at Dunfermline to warrant a large fee. Generally the Championship market is a 'timing' one and picking up free transfers.

The St Pauli stuff is daft, you really need to go to Germany to better understand fan experience? As much as a laugh it is to laugh at the Pars I'd much rather see them in the Championship but there seems to be a real lethargy around the club in general.

Bang on

Might just be me but dont see a conveyer belt of young talent coming through in Scotland, playing at clubs regularly or being sold for large fees

Dundee tried a similar thing in the premiership and that didn’t work.

Having said that there will be the odd few that we do make money on but not sure there will be enough to make it viable

Otoo fisher and hosler have chances

If they wanted to improve fan engagement, all they had to do was to come along the A92.

Don't crow too loudly about fan engagement given Goodwillie-gate and your then Boards horrendous handling of that situation.

What's that got to do with our current board? Fan action ensured he never played, and then a year later there's a takeover with new ownership who have pursued a far more engaging approach.

Still, best of luck with the current approach of your current outlook of desperately trying to cling on the coattails of St Pauli.

It’s easy to have good fan engagement when things are going well on the park. Just look at us last season. That being said, the use of social media etc from Rovers has been excellent this year. Lightyears ahead of us on that front. From what I’ve seen, your board are trying lots of new things and actively looking for fan feedback/opinions. You’re getting a lot right on and off the park this season.

This is a good argument, as if one were needed that 'B' Teams in the various competitions aren't working as well as the SPFL overlords thought they would.

Correct Callum but to be fair they had  good fan engagement before things were going well on the park.Christ cant remember the last time we mustered just over 3000 for our first home league fixture against Morton

Club had being crying out for years for new owners/ new BOD with a newer vision on and off the pitch. So far its been fairly successful, aye it might go tits up but we,ll enjoy the ride for now

The point being it can go tits anytime as it did at your club then and could again. Keep in mind the shite times as you ride the good times. Because your club are gambling this season and so far it's working, working out for now.

My outlook differs from the club.
