welshbairn
On track for a 2.30 launch, stream starts 1.45 unless things change, which is quite likely.
Salt n Vinegar
Slightly off topic but what do flat Earthers think happens when a rocket is launched? Do they think humans push it off the "edge" and it falls "down" for ever? Also what's with this "Starship" that Musk has? Which stars is it capable of visiting?
welshbairn
There's no such thing as rocket, daftie, it's all CGI. The original name for Starship was BFR, for Big Fucking Rocket, much better imo.

welshbairn
Had to blow it up nearly in orbit as stage 2 failed to separate. At least lift off went to plan...

welshbairn
Watch this from 8.33 CDT on the top left corner. The camera is about a quarter mile from the launch site. Roughly 2.33 pm here scrolling back from live feed. Edited April 20, 2023 by welshbairn
Thane of Cawdor
“Starship experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly". Titter, titter.
welshbairn
Some of the 30 odd engines failed to light, all on one side. The central three can gimbal to compensate, but it looks like only one was working. My theory for what went wrong.
Venti
Remember when Challenger exploded. We had it on TV in school (was in the US). Think it was because they had a teacher onboard.

Silvio Tattiescone
Looks like that big rocket destroyed the launchpad and it was bits of flying concrete that damaged the engines.
Lurkst
Looks like another good night for spotting the aurora, my brother's sent some great photos from Germany, so should be better further north.

The Saturn V only had a few bloody big rocket engines on it This feels more like the USSR purported moon rocket with multiple engines which blew up on the launch pad around the time of Apollo XI. Lessons learned and all that but rocketry doesn't seem to have advanced in 5 decades
