MEADOWXI Posted August 25, 2017 Share Posted August 25, 2017 (edited) Every February 7th (the 38th day of the year) since 1970, Perth has the annual Atholl Drummond Tug-o-War where the people of Blair Atholl and Blair Drummond meet half way between their towns to battle for the right to claim Lionel Blair as their Divine Leader for the forthcoming year. Until 1999 the Tug-o-War was carried out with a rope between the two towns with the half way point in Perth, but in that year his meddling son Tony Blair at the height of his power and using 'Ealth and Safety gone made' legislation ruled that a rope running almost 76 miles up the A9 wasn't safe, and the rope was shortened to 76 feet and the meeting held the the home of St Johnstone FC ever since. Lionel Blair is currently Divine Leader of Blair Atholl after their latest victory on Tuesday 7th February 2017. In the 47 meeting Blair Atholl have won the event more often and are winning 29 - 17* in annual wins * 1983 was declared Null and Void after Blair Drummond were discovered to have won with a Gorilla from the Safari Park as Team Anchor.
