meanmistermustard Posted Tuesday at 17:45 Share Posted Tuesday at 17:45 (edited) 3-2. 5 minutes to go plus injury time. We need to score twice. Edited Tuesday at 17:45 by meanmistermustard
Moysterclass Posted Tuesday at 17:56 Share Posted Tuesday at 17:56 Why can't we just win against Kazakhstan. Why.

Miserable failure, especially with Belgium losing to Hungary, and should be the end of Gemill's time.

andyg83 Posted Tuesday at 18:28 Share Posted Tuesday at 18:28 I am sorry but this surely is the end of the road for Gemmell.
Arthurlie1981 Posted Tuesday at 18:30 Share Posted Tuesday at 18:30 That was abysmal. In control after the leveller and a horror mistake by Nelson costs us the game. I think it's time for a change in coach but dont blame him for all of that tonight. Players were very poor in 1st half and only really turned up after half time until the red card. The lack of some the basics really concerns me. not able to control the ball, not able to pass short distances. Very disappointing given we were thrown a lifeline by the Hungarians.

Tbf a lot of Kazakhstans senior players play for Astana, who seem to regularly make groups in Europe (might be wrong, I've not checked), and who beat SK Brann to make the league phase this year (which would see fans in this country buzzing if one of our clubs managed it). They reached the play offs for the Euros too, 4pts behind Denmark in the groups before Greece thumped them in their play off game. It does rather reek of how folk used to be snobbish about teams like Slovakia decades ago whereas now it's accepted we're a similar level as them. Kazakhstan will probably be caught up with us completely within the next decade.
Quentin Taranbino Posted Tuesday at 18:40 Share Posted Tuesday at 18:40 Have we ever 'sacked' an under 21 manager? I can't actually recall how the previous ones left their role

Quentin Taranbino Posted Tuesday at 18:57 Share Posted Tuesday at 18:57 I looked all the way back and don't think we have ever fired an under 21 manager. The only one I'm not sure on is Tommy Craig back In 1998 as I can't find info on why he left the role. Even Rainer Bonhof (who stayed onnafter Berti) left of his own accord after a long winless stretch
KirkieRR Posted Tuesday at 21:08 Share Posted Tuesday at 21:08 That was horrendous bottling after a promising campaign.
Insert Amusing Pseudonym Posted Tuesday at 23:45 Share Posted Tuesday at 23:45 There's no excuse for losing that game. They were an absolute rabble in Paisley and it's a game you should be winning. Not that I had any confidence we would with the incompetent manager

Kazakhstan will probably be caught up with us completely within the next decade. They beat Malta twice and lost every single other game in this group apart from today's. That included an absolute scudding from us in Paisley. People are being snobbish because they are clearly shite. Kazakhstan's full team reached the play-offs for the Euros through the Nations League C path, and wouldn't have qualified otherwise since they were 4th in their qualifying group. Incidentally, Slovakia came 3rd in that same Nations League group, so I'm not really sure that they are a similar level to us. I'd also be surprised if anyone was snobbish about Slovakia decades ago given that a) they've only existed as a country for 30 years, b) they spun out of a former European Championship winning nation and c) we didn't play against them until 2016, by which point they'd been to a World Cup and a Euros. Stellaboz Posted Wednesday at 04:53 Share Posted Wednesday at 04:53 Kazakhstan shouldn't be in UEFA. Almaty is about 150 miles from China ffs, its in no way a European country. If its got problems with its neighbours, tough shit.
Pie Of The Month Posted Wednesday at 07:08 Share Posted Wednesday at 07:08 All of a sudden I'd quite like Gemmill to stay. I'm sure Mick would be delighted if another manager came out on social media and touted someone for his job because he's incapable of winning playoffs.
Savage Henry Posted Wednesday at 08:12 Share Posted Wednesday at 08:12 I’d like to see Ricky Sbragia given a chance. Seriously though, it’d be just about acceptable if at any point in the last eight years the under 21s were producing a direct feeding ground for the full team. But they haven’t, and it isn’t. Scotland Gemmell’s hoofball helps nobody.
Gianfranco Posted Wednesday at 09:31 Share Posted Wednesday at 09:31 Gemmill needs to do the decent thing and resign. He’s had long enough and it’s been miserable to watch.
