Latino Lover
Your beckham's, your scholes, your giggs' etc. Anything referring to playing international football as being the highest level. Players getting cramp at semi finals etc, but never in league games or other knock out games.
Bold Rover
Not really a cliche, but I get really irritated when footballers are described as 'geniuses'. Yes, everyone knows it's "genii."

Seymour Skinner
I think after the cup game against Morton, chick young essentially turned the phrase "hoisted it in" into a cliche.

DjembaDjemba
He has the right to fairly challenge for the ball. He couldn't do that and was rightly booked. Nonsense, you have no idea what you're talking about. His challenge was perfectly fair it was an accidental collision.

LAGer
"At this stage of the season it's just about winning matches" ......as opposed to what other stage of the season? Was coming on to say that. It seems to apply right at the start of the season when things haven't settle down, during the winter months and towards the end of the season. Another is managers/commentators saying that every ground, regardless of the opponents home record, is a 'hard place to come'.
