dee_62
Wednesday - knew the Character and the emperor and a guess on the African capital. Pretty convinced I was looking at a 6 or 7 today. Another 3/10.

Here's the awkward moment where the presenter went for a hug and I went for the double high five. That £10K in yer hip pocket is all well and good but University Challenge seems to have become the TOWIE of the chattering classes: Radio 4, on Saturdy, did a profile of Eric Monkman, captain of the Wolfson College, Cambridge team: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08ks464 And The Mail had an article on a girl on the Edinburgh Uni team who knew about tampons: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4378118/University-Challenge-male-team-bemused-tampon-question.html

Bit disappointed that show didn't have a chat with the man himself. And on the subject of UC "dumbing down", I've definitely posted this before, but it's my favourite quiz-show clip (and probably Youtube clip) out there.

I was about to say that "Oor Bamber will be turning in his grave" but I did a quick google and see he's alive and kicking.

Have played on the same team as Mr Smith from the Edinburgh UC team once or twice, and he's an excellent quizzer. Edinburgh have another very strong team entered for the next series. Monkman of Wolfson is great, but I think Balliol might just have a bit too much for them in the final.

I've loved every single incarnation, even though they've all had their major flaws. The original was probably the best, but playing on an emulator was a chore - and you don't really appreciate that point-and-click is a relatively new phenomenon!
