Things that annoy or delight you on the telly right now

Used to like Brosnan as Bond but I went off him after I saw a clip of Michael McIntyre asking the audience if they thought he looked like Pierce Brosnan with a mouthful of sweets. A connection I can't get out of my head.
There's a lesson there, m8.

Never watch anything with Michael McIntyre in it.

It wasn't a whole programme, it was a trailer before the programme I wanted to watch. Couldn't find the remote in time.

Dalton was an excellent Bond, he was very unlucky with timings. Stick him in the Craig films, and everyone would rate him as the best.

Can you imagine 'The Living Daylights' with Roger Moore in it? When they were first planning that film, they thought Moore would be doing it but once they realised that Dalton could act they rewrote it with a much more serious tone.  As you say he was unlucky with the timings - there was a rights issue or something after his second one and by the time it was sorted out it was too late to do a third one. Not sure whose choice that was though.

Pretty sure it was mutual by the time everything got sorted. In a way he was also lucky that Brosnan had to drop out at the last minute before TLD due to Remington Steele being renewed.

I don't know if you've seen the documentary Everything or Nothing, but it's well worth a watch.

The only problem I have with the Dalton films (and the ones that followed) is that they made Miss Moneypenny a wid. In the ones prior to that she was an older woman, not even a MILF, who obviously had the hots for Bond so he flirted with her but they both knew he wasn't serious. Yes, Lois Maxwell was only three years older than Connery and about six months older than Moore but the character was meant to be a bit mumsy. Caroline Bliss and Samantha Bond (har!) were too young, IMO - Connery's Bond would have had them across the desk if he didn't think M would object to a workplace relationship.

I don’t think Jerry could quite get his head round it either. Once he dies though they better hope he doesn’t have access to firearms!
Felt very sorry for him; he was clearly unhappy and I'm sure that appearing on TV won't have helped. Absolute cert to go on a killing spree. His wife came over as a selfish bitch. She'll be first in his sights.

Dalton is a fantastic Bond.  And I think both his films stand up really well.  I always preferred License To Kill of the two as it's got a really nasty streak running through it, years before Craig got praised for doing the same thing.  I think the problem was that folk expected more of the Roger Moore "Carry on" style that they'd become used to.

Goldeneye with Dalton could have been amazing.

The only reason people rate Moore as a great Bond is because he was perfect for the utter shite involved in most of his films. The Moore era was a joke.

Octopussy and Moonraker are particularly detestable, but I always find something to enjoy in Live and Let Die, TMWTGG and The Spy Who Loved Me.  The latter gets the blend of humour and overblown spectacle just about right.

I quite like A View To A Kill as well because it's got Christopher Walken chewing up the scenery.

I will admit I love the Spy Who Loved Me, with Mrs Ringo being a particular highlight, and For Your Eyes Only is half decent too. It's no surprise that they are probably the two least comedic of the Moore era.

For Your Eyes Only, if I'm not getting Bond wrong, is the only one I can remember where they let his Bond approach the cold blooded killer of Connery's when he shoves the car over the edge of the cliff with the boy still alive inside it.

Yeah, it was deliberately darker after the joke that was Moonraker.

Here is Timothy Dalton getting Bond right

No, you're not getting Bond wrong. Alan would be pleased.
