Putin already lying about who caused it. Even if there was conclusive evidence Russia would still ignore it. Carl Cort's Hamstring Posted July 18, 2014 Share Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) It's quite frightening to imagine what the situation would be like had the plane belonged to an American carrier (or another major NATO nation like Britain or France). From all the reports and analysis it seems very likely that the rebels would have needed direct Russian technical assistance to operate this kind of anti-aircraft weapon (and the Ukranian government have published footage which they claim shows a launcher with a missile missing being driven towards the Russian border on a lorry).
