Business / corporate speak nonsense

it is a long standing tradition that all young boys get their first glimpse of a jazz mag hidden under hedges........am certain I saw my first porno under a hedge at a lay by on the A9 near Bankfoot circa 1986/87.

Aye, we found somebody's stash under a hedge at the perimeter of our school. Must have been about eight years old at the time.

Who are/were these people that hide/hid gentlemen's special interest material under hedges? Especially near schools FFS

Had they not got a bit soggy by then?

Almost a decade of circle jerks would take its toll, right enough.

Saville IMO

Considering porn under hedges seems to have been such a common thing, I'd say that the old b*****d would've needed to be busy, but that's exactly what he was, so... :shutup

Terrifying to think what a close call we may all have had.

One of my subjects at Uni was 'Management'. It was a pile of pish and I'm pretty sure not one relevant, applicable skill for working in a business was taught. I can only imagine the graduate interns you get in big corporations from such courses are absolute headless chickens.

I'm coming around to the probably-not-too-controversial position that university is a waste of time for some subjects. You'd be far better off getting 4 years on-the-job training, mentoring and real-world experience... assuming you get decent training, mentoring and business exposure. Of course you miss out on the piece of paper and lager-fueled Monday, Tuesday & Friday afternoons at the union, but hey.

I think most people know that though. Other than medicine ad possibly a few others, most university courses aren't teaching you exact stuff you'll use in exact jobs after leaving. But the vast majority of employers want someone with a degree. Maybe they think it shows that the person is able to work hard, or just that they are fairly intelliegent. Whatever it is though, unfortunately a good degree, despite not actually teaching you a lot of relevant stuff, is necessary to get entry into a lot of jobs.

ETA: When I say "vast majority of employers", I'm referring to larger corporations rather than trade employers like builders etc where a degree is useless obviously.

Found a box of old 1.44MB floppy disks in a box in the loft. Then it dawned on me that a single picture from my digital camera on it's highest setting wouldn't fit on there.

I got a similar feeling when I was given a free promotional pen stick with 1Gb, more memory than my family's PC in the early 2000's.

Oh how I miss the days of my brothers trying to free up 100Mb for Carmageddon by deleting the contents of that useless 'Windows 98' folder.

It's all King Kebab's fault your honour.

Christ, imagine the sheer panic in the department if they decided to investigate his search history?

KK is either untouchable or would have a team of people to look into his history and end up footing the bill for a lot of therapy

Just read this on an e-mail regarding staff promotions - "They are also testament to our commitment to grow organically as a business promoting from within wherever possible."
