d31
Heard the Russell one going about Hard to see it coming to anything though Stewart would look a good signing if we manage to play him centrally more this time
d31
Apparently the Dons have agreed a deal with Stewart and now a game of poker with Birmingham. Dons probably looking to pay £0 to Brum and foot the bill for them to pay off Stewart early. Obviously Brum will be holding out for an actual payment or Stewart to forego a pay off

We still have a 20% sell on clause active, although I'm sure it was timed and runs out after this window. Could we be so lucky as for it happen ? AM1010
Why would Stewart want to go back? Routinely played out of position by McInnes and struggled to get anywhere near the heights he hit at Dundee and Kilmarnock.

Sunderland is probably a more attractive proposition but no guarantee of regular football. I'm sure he probably would have been happy to stay at Killie but doesn't seem like an option without taking an even bigger pay cut. At least with Aberdeen he's guaranteed to still be involved every week even if it might not suit his style of play compared to Kilmarnock.
SamuraiJock
Probably fair to say that Stewart's best month last year was the last month of the season. Maybe him and McInnes had just figured out how to get more out of him when he was away back to Birmingham.
coprolite
maybe Russel has pie-smell withdrawal syndrome, like Barry Robson had.

Although I'll struggle now to get the oxymoron which is 'hitting heights at Dundee' out of my head.

This season he seems fit and on form so it may just be the perfect fit. Stewart still speaks very highly of his time with us. Still, I’d be surprised yet delighted if this happens.
AM1010
He quite clearly needs a role that allows him the freedom to express himself to get the best out of him, which he obviously wasn't given at Aberdeen or Birmingham. Completely understandable due to the quality of player at both clubs during his time there. Interesting to see how he is used this time round. Quality player if used correctly.

He did look unfit when I saw him playing for Aberdeen, not the same player that did so well at Dundee and Cowdenbeath. Get him fit and you’ll see a different player.
