To go out into a crowded bar in the middle of a global pandemic when exceptions have been made to get you back playing football, unbelievable. For it to have been Soul, fucking Soul, unforgivable! We have been quite relaxed as a club about players going out drinking up to now, but perhaps it is time to tighten up on that. It's not particularly asking a lot for them to be a bit more disciplined given the wages and lifestyle afforded to them. It's not just about being disciplined - professional football was only allowed to restart up here on condition of twice weekly tests and players living in a restricted bubble. That bubble did not stretch to include going out on the lash in pubs. Edited August 7, 2020 by cmontheloknow

Physical distancing has to be in place for the first 3 stages of the release from lockdown, making professional sport very difficult to facilitate. Professional football and top flight in particular, has been granted an excemption provided players restrict their social contacts. When training started during lockdown, players could only train then had to stay home with family. We're now in stage 3 and while the players can be in social bubbles with each other, that has to be balanced against their industry only being allowed to restart with some concessions being made. Quote The Scottish Government is disappointed by the actions of these individuals who have put at risk the return of professional football in Scotland. “This was a clear breach of the rules that were put in place by the SFA, the SPFL and the Scottish Government. “As this outbreaks highlights, it’s imperative that these strict protocols are diligently followed in order to ensure the continued safe resumption of the sport. “In light of the ongoing public health situation and the local restrictions that are in place to contain the spread of Covid-19 in Aberdeen City, minister for public health and sport Joe Fitzpatrick has called a meeting with the SFA and SPFL to discuss the situation at Aberdeen Football Club. “The Scottish Government is clear that it is only by following the rules and keeping people safe that football is able to continue. “No one wants to see the season put at risk. “Officials will also be meeting with all club captains and managers in the next few days to emphasise the guidelines and their importance.” Edited August 7, 2020 by cmontheloknow

That is one social bubble that should be retained indefinitely. It would be interesting to see what would happen if they presented to the Community Mental Health Team expressing that level of paranoia.

I don't have a copy of the regulations that the 12 clubs have signed up to - not sure that is public. But I would guess not going to pubs is on it as they have to stay in their limited bubble in order for football to be allowed to return now rather than in stage 4. Bogbrush1903
I feel sorry for Cormack after watching the interview. He must be wondering what he's got himself mixed up in. Cormack's being diplomatic but there seems to be a discipline and attitude problem at the club. Shinnie was up here, in his close season, to celebrate his August 4th birthday. McInnes must have spoke to him and surely was aware that players were going out to celebrate with him. If he wasn't then he should have been. It should have been nipped in the bud. What's more worrying is that the players still felt like going out after that shitshow.

There are detailed documents on the SFA site about testing procedures and matchday procedures which say nothing clear about "bubbles". They do say that players should prepare for matches at their home address and eat alone when preparing for matches. This bit could probably be interpreted as suggesting that players should isolate more than the public (or maintain a bubble whatever that means this week). I'd imagine it's worded in terms of "prearing for matches" because that is part of a player's employment and the club can't necessarily restrict them outside of that. There might be something clearer somewhere but it isn't public.

Otherwise they'd be furloughed and watching Jeremy Kyle on the sofa.

He clearly knows the initial reaction from the support is to burn them at the stake, so he was asking supporters to reign it in whilst the investigation is ongoing and let them focus on tomorrow's match. As was mentioned above, there is no doubt he's absolutely raging about this.

It was the only reasonable course medically and for competitive advantage. Surely Hamilton and Celtic will follow now in postponement. You cannot have these three teams benefiting at the expense of the other teams in the league that have to play us with a full compliment.
