Heart of Midlothian 2014-

Recommended Posts

It is interesting that Gordon still hasn't signed for Celtic given that it seemed a done deal even when there wasn't a manager there. Pleased to get Alexander though. Team is shaping up nicely now.

I'd say we need a back up GK now unless we go with Hamilton which I would doubt.

A centre half to play next to Wilson, a RB and another CM are also a must and another option for the wing is also on my shopping list!

Keep em coming HMFC! :)

Michael Nelson is free to go.

Please will someone just sign him :(

We're already covered at right back and have four wingers. I'd guess the remaining signings, all going well, will be another goalkeeper, a centre half. central midfielder and another striker.

In my opinion, we need cover for Paterson at right back, a partner for Wilson at centre back, competition for McHattie at left back, and another goalkeeper.

Priority:

1- Centre Back

2- Another keeper

3- A lofty striker. About 6 foot 3 or above.

4- Utility fullback/midfielder (somebody like Rudi Skacel mibby)

McGhee can cover at right back and Wilson at left back which is why I think we'll sign a centre half. Either that or someone who can play all across the back.

I somehow managed to completely forget about CP at right back! Oops!

Got to say I'm most excited about seen the Moroccan lad playing. Always something a bit more interesting about signing a lad who you know little about. Especially one who ticks all the right boxes for CL and RN.

McGhee can cover at right back and left back, but he's an outstanding prospect, imo, and I'm not sure we'd be doing his development any favours by playing him out of position.

Paterson has had two full seasons, and should be first choice at right back, but he's had spells of injury in both seasons, and that could happen again this season.

I also think McHattie might benefit from a spell as understudy to a more experienced left back - mind how good Neil Pointon was for Gary Naysmith's development,

I'm also mindful of the fact that our back four was the weakest area of our team last season - we'll have to be a lot better there in the season ahead.

no mcghee cant cover at rb or lb.

levein and neilson et al are all about players using their minds as well as their "tekkers"

but mcghee is a cb. please stop going on about him being more than that. he isn't

danny wilson can play at LB if that helps.

You used the word 'tekkers' in a sentence with the name Craig Levein.

Overspending!! Remember we had the lowest budget in the top league before we binned Mcdonald etc.

There will be no overspending, I'd imagine we could double last seasons budget and still be within 50% of turnover.

We could treble it and possibly quadruple it.

If anything, we will be spending well, well beneath our means next season. We're still 2 players worse off than last season as well.

Lee currie who played for Berwick and scored 18 goals from centre midfield last season is training with hearts. He won 8 out of 9 player of the year awards with the club. Was in the league 2 player of the year, and came runner up to rory MacAllister of Peterhead in the leagues best player.

Was a massive stand out last season, and about 70% of his goals came from free kicks outside the box, an absolute specialist on dead balls. Ran the show in most of the games last season and won us many points on his own!

Would definitely fit in at hearts and would be a good signing in my opinion. Not a big name but hey, if Paul Hartley can do it the way he did.. Cuzza could be the next !

We have taken Berwick Rangers midfielder Lee Currie on trial.

He's 24 and scored 18 goals last season, winning several awards. He also played in the Hibs U19 side that won the league and cup double in 2009.

Have absolutely no problem with giving guys like this a chance. Good luck to him.

Two seasons ago, Currie scored two free kicks in one game against the Rovers. We still beat them 4-3, but he certainly seemed an excellent dead ball taker.
