How does that happen Because we have not recruited properly in that area of the pitch. Plus over reliance on key players to play every week and having little to no proper cover. Having players that can play multiple roles in a squad is good when in tiers 3 downwards but once you are in the tier 2 and up you really need dedicated players to be ready to step in once your first choice is out. Plus it aids in creating competition for places in the squad. But we dont have that and are just putting square pegs into round holes. We need a left back, a defensive midfielder - or get one of our current crop to do that job (E.g. Nightmares of last season with how wide open we are in central midfield meaning our back 4 exposed massively and picking up bookings. we've known since about February/ march hammy was fucked so why are we know in august still got no actual left back cover worrying about this. lichtiekev Posted July 22, 2023 Share Posted July 22, 2023 We got lucky for a while when we had JT, Little, Hammy and Tob who were undroppable and fit for a season, it's been clear we have needed more defenders for a long time, thinking we can just fill these gaps with midfielders isn't working, Jacobs shouldn't of been signed, its not his fault, but he isn't up to it, not one person thought he should of been kept on for the season, could add Allan into that bracket too, Our recruitment has been far better than last season but players should of been signed to play 4-4-1-1 and the style that works for us, 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
