That's if he is a free man The only free transfers you can bring in are those who were out of contract during the window. See guys like Paton, Gillespie, Stokes etc getting their deals mutually terminated before the window closed. If Watt was still registered to a club after the window closed then he can’t play for another club until the summer window opens. He could of course sign for a team but it’d seem a bit pointless paying a wage for someone you can’t play. Pinko
I've just read we are after Tony Watt An understandable link. If so that would just be the 6 strikers and 7 CB’s on the books and no one who can make a decent forward pass.Gets more depressing the more I think about it.
Fifespud
According to Wiki he is either a free agent or has signed an 18 month deal with Rangers - I’m guessing that bid is someone on the wind up. Fuçk sake it’s all seeming a bit random.
The Master
Leaving a club just under a fortnight after the transfer window closes is bizarre.

When has Watt ever made sense? You get the impression that despite only scoring one goal in six months for Hearts, he believes he's still going to be someone clubs in the top flight are desperate to sign.
Swello
Dundee fans would need to endure the phrase "the scorer of that goal against Barcelona" in every match report produced by a glasgow-based paper. Nothing is worth that.

Don't think this is true, if a player becomes a free agent during two windows he is able to sign and play for any club who shows interest, UEFA initially wanted it as a club could release a player but retain his registration which would support your post, but their lawyers seen it as being unforceable as that would be UEFA preventing a player from earning a living which infringes on human rights.

He cant. He's also played two competitive games for two different clubs this season.
The Algebraist
Standard day in the box office I see. Two posters, presenting as supporters of other clubs, arguing over the unsubstantiated rumour of a potential Dundee signing.

Their is no limit to how many clubs you can play for. It's an infringement of human rights to prevent anyone from earning a living ffs. The Bosman ruling in the 80s has made all legislative bodies wary of the powers they have, if UEFA prevented anyone from earning a living and they were hauled into a court of law they would lose.

Quote Currently, under the FIFA Transfer Regulations, a football player is only allowed to be registered with a maximum of three clubs in one season. This also applies regardless of what country that player has plied his trade in, whether that is in Europe, Africa or South America. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs. However, a player may be eligible to play in official matches for a third club during the relevant season if he has moved between two clubs belonging to associations with overlapping seasons (ie, start of the season in summer/autumn as opposed to winter/spring). This is only allowed if he has fully complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs. So he could sign for someone but since our season is aligned with Belgium, he can't sign and play for anyone in Scotland. He also can't sign for us as the window is closed here and he was not a free agent when it was open. He could go somewhere like China, USA or even Ireland though. The only way he can go to a team here is if he went to a team not in the conventional senior set-up. Nothing stopping him being employed by a club, just not eligible for matches. Not a violation of human rights as he's had earning power in the contracts he's negotiated to date and voluntarily terminated his contract. Dee Man
Tony Watt starting his own website to review films must be one of the most bizarre and surreal things to ever happen in Scottish football.
